Is this not an obvious clash? The bikes are roughly the same price, same class, same target audience. I've seen:

696 vs the Shiver
the street triple vs the shiver
the 696 vs ER6n, xj6, and the Gladius

WTF are the 696 vs street triple tests!!!

Is it because the street triple will blow the duc out of the water??

:dunno

you may wanna ask a motorcycle forum...

oh wait...

haha, I would go to the ducati monster forums to see what they think, but then all I would find is the street triple doesn't have as much "character" or isn't Italian enough :laughing

I guess I was hoping to find a cookie cutter online magazine review that basically stated both bikes were great and this bike does this better, but this bike does that better, so it's up to YOU to decide what's better.

I'd rather see the large cc, naked bike shootout.
Streetfighter vs Speed Triple vs Hornet vs B-King, etc

munroe motorcycles in sf carry both triumph & ducati...I believe they offer demo rides for you to decide...

Considering the 675 beat out the 848 I'd say the Street Triple, especially an R model, would beat out the 696 :).

Ace Motorsports in Concord also carries both. If they have demo bikes for both models, it should be easy enough to arrange comparison rides between the two.

Yes, I agree a 600-700 non-SS shootout is welcome. Some of us don't want to be ricky racer and want a great street bike.

From what I have read the Street Triple S would blow the Ducati 696 away.

Yup it totally blows the 696 all the way back to 1986 - which is about the last time that a "premium" 700cc motor made 60HP :thumbdown

I posted few months back on a back to back comparison I did with a 675 Street Tripple R, and 848 and an 1198S in So Cal canyon lands. The 675 blew the 848 away and IMHO was more fun than the 1198S.:thumbup

I hear so many say the 696 will be a good "beginner bike"....

I was lusting over at Munroe and the salesman was telling some dude without even a permit the Street Triple R was a good "beginner bike." Heart-wrenching, I want that bike so bad and some rich kid with no clue is gonna destroy it.*

(* Yes, major envy-driven assumption.)
