Will the Freeway Carnage Ever Stop?

Edit: That forklift they hauled in MAY help. None of the pallets in the current tipped over fashion can except the forks of the forklift. Gonna be fun!
If the forklift has a rotator it could help, but the chances of the shrink wrap or whatever is holding the cases together living through righting a pallet is slim.

Another IPA drinker here. If you don't like it, don't drink it. Nobody is wrong :dunno

My problem with IPA other than I don't like it is that most IPA lovers I know are beer snobs and beer snobs annoy me. Just drink your damn hipster beer and don't give me a speech about it. :twofinger

Yeah, that'd irritate me too. Me, I don't really talk about 'em much. I drink 'em. I drank one of these and loved it too. :thumbup

The snobs will move on to the next trend, I think. I liked IPAs before and I'll like em after the wave. People that have to tell you over and over again what they like are insecure in their choices due to underexposure.

Frankly, I have similar feelings about people that get indignant if you don't drink Scotch whisky straight. I have always watered it some with some kind of purified water and rocks. Drinking it straight to me is treating it like vodka shots or something. I savor the stuff and spend some time enjoying the flavor. I don't need to be told I'm not manly for not drinkin' it a certain way.

Speaking of darks, I like Pyramid SnowCap this time of year. I think that's the name, it's been a while. I also like those seasonal bocks in the late fall. So I am not just a hop hipster. Might be going to Germany this summer. I am looking forward to enjoying quality pilsners, etc etc.

you are free to drink your whisky how ever you like.
thats a subjective thing and it should be that way

HOWEVER

it is an undeniable fact that the colder a drink is, the less you can actually taste.
(this is why you need more salt in a cold soup)

additionally,@ over 56 percent alcohol or so the alcohol begins to overpower anything you could possibly taste which is why the addition of water makes sense.
Edit:
Some lower% benefit the same way absynth does
if I pour you a really nice single malt and you shoot it, mix it, or ice

it becomes apparent to me that you really don't know what you're drinking and therefore probably won't enjoy it anymore than a whiskey sour

I won't get indignant, but I'm pouring you j&b the rest of the night.

Why would any whiskey approach 56% alcohol? That's just stupid.

I sat and drank whisky with a gent in East London back in 1985. He was a liquor importer and I had looked him up because we shared the same last name. He had whisky and he had a ceramic pitcher of water to the side. I watched him add a small quantity of water, then slowly add more as we drank it down. You are right, no ice. I have been drinkin it that way ever since.

but yeah, reasoning it out, the ice locks up some of the flavor which is why I wouldnt use much. Okay for domestic stuff but it becomes more of a cooler that you drink faster. I haven't been buying as much good Scotch and Irish whisky anymore, it's too expensive and Ms BA drinks it too fast, so its more of a past habit. Kinda miss those $22 specials bottles at BevMo. They're all like over $40 now.

Wait, isn't the trend going away from IPA's?
I kinda think so. You'll see a soft kind of exit, hoppy brews with different colors and ingredients. I think Lagunitas has been at the forefront with some of their wacky brews, like Lil Sumpin Lil Sumpin. Still not even sure what they put in that stuff, but man, it'll wreck ya.

Yep, I stopped drinking them last year. Kidney doc said to stop drinking Beer. :laughing
I can still drink my Scotch tho, so it's all good.

So Coors Light got spilled & all the IPA haters took over the thread..:wtf

So if a truck filled with Vespa Scooters overturned, would it result in a Ducati Hating Thread? :rolleyes

:laughing While I don't completely loathe IPAs (sometimes I'll have one, and Pliny is pretty damn good) I am totally bored with them. That said I drink PBR all the time, and often have one instead of an IPA.

That's cause you're a hipster. You just need to find right bike

If you think Lil Sumpin Sumpin will knock you on your ass, you haven't tried Lil Sumpin Wild

Ah, that's okay, I'll take your word for it. Thing is, I can drink the double IPAs all night long and be fine, but something in the Lil Sumpin makes me spin and puke. The barkeep at Lagunitas said something about "cereals." I also got spectacularly spinny on "Sucks." It wasn't fun, which bugs me. I can drink Maximus at will with no problem and it's strong, alcohol-wise.

It's all good. I like the direction the thread has gone. Didn't expect the whiskey topic to come up, but glad it did. Not a whiskey guy at all, but I've learned something, so :thumbup

Back to beer... a buddy shared another seasonal with me that I was unaware of; Lagunitas Brown Shugga. A bit sweeter than I'm use to, but pretty tasty. For some reason my taste buds love bitter.
