World Of Warships

yeahI bought it when it first came out it was really impressed with that game for the time.. then I spent way too long playing the desert combat mod

DC? I LOVED that game. El Alamein was such a fun map, and I remember a server that allowed base camping (so, I'd sit in a "little bird" and strafe their guys...:laughing).

I notice I'm aiming way too high in WoS at the moment. Guess I aim at the water line instead?

Depends on what you're shooting with and at. If you have a battleship and are shooting at another battleship or a cruiser, use AP shells and aim for the waterline. That's how to get hits to the citadel (magazine) and do shitloads of damage.

If you're in a cruiser, shooting at a battleship? Meh. Your AP shells won't penetrate the belt armor. Best to stick with HE, aim for the deck or superstructure, and hope you light him on fire or knock out a gun turret.

If you're shooting at a destroyer, best to use HE shells no matter what. AP usually just goes right through them and doesn't do as much damage. And HE is great against aircraft carriers since if you catch them on fire they can't launch planes.

OK thanks. I'm in the Erie, first ship, which must be a destroyer. My friend says that distance is automatically adjusted for? So, aim at waterline generally, or the superstructure? Thanks.

i usually place the long horizontal cross hair line at the bottom of the boat or right at the water line and lead your shots of course. i found kill shots for a south carolina battleship is middle rear if youre in a battle ship or have high caliber artillery. what i really like about this game is how evenly matched they make each game. on war thunder i hated being in a high t2 tank battleing high t3 low t4 tanks :thumbdown

Me too. Is actually a cruiser though in the game.

If you hit Ctrl-X you should see some message on the screen say "armament fixed on relative bearing" or something like that. Just hit it again to unlock them. It's a useful thing when you want the guns pointed a certain way to be ready, since on the big ones they take awhile to traverse, meanwhile you can still free look around and scan for anyone else or make sure you don't run into land or whatever.

Sadly this is not the problem however I was able to get a few more shots on target using this though

This game...is not so bad. I had my doubts until I laid in wait behind an island and had a torpedo salvo in the water as the enemy rounded the point...kaboomies!

That's probably my most favorite thing to do.

I turned on the advanced battle gui last night and let's just say it's easy mode now. Tells you exactly how long your shells will be in the air so all you need to do is add a little speed compensation (which you could determine by counting as the ship passes across the lines) and you're on target all the time. Crazy easy.

Bump! I've gotten the hang of the game. I think I like playing the DDs most (will have the tier 5 Japanese DD today), and the American cruisers are pretty good (almost to Cleveland).

So, anyone want to division up?

You're gonna love the Cleveland. Just light battleships on fire all the time with HE shells. Only use AP if you're against a lesser cruiser, otherwise HE spam all day. Plus the thing has amazing anti air abilities.

Sweet, I'm close. I heard Pensacola sucks? seems like every country has a "dead zone" in its ships...

For example, the tier 6 Japanese cruiser SUCKS compared to tier 5.

Pensacola guns pack maybe 50% more damage, but they fire much slower than the Cleveland. So Pensacola is more of a battle cruiser. Easy to get in trouble if it's isolated by a DD.

Yeah there's some dead zones for sure. Everyone says the Colorado is just garbage for a tier 7 BB, which I have just about unlocked.

I've played 18K games in World of Tanks, Blackrug is the name. I like WOWS OK, but I only play the free Tier 1's. The fun part is leading the target and aiming, The island map set up is meh for me. WOWP, didn't it.

Anyone try the Russian ships? I liked the first 2-3 German ships, but heard tier 4 sucks, and it's expensive.
