they're nose packed??? OMG, it is so horrible. I have 10 days off work. Spent the first four with a non-stop hemmoraging nose (and mouth, gross) and finally went to the ER yesterday and they packed a boulder in it! Can't breathe, never went to sleep last night, migraine, non-stop nasal drip, and severe pain. I look like death.
What causes such severe bleeding and blood clots out your nose for God's sake?
Anyone had this done? Does it get better as days go on or do I have to live like this for a week?! :cry

I had surgery for a deviated septum, and I felt like my head was going to explode afterwards from the packing in my nose.

When I finally got the ok to remove the packing, it was like a magic scarf trick. I swear I pulled out at least eight feet of packing from each nostril. I kept pulling and pulling and pulling until it all came out. :wow

I had huge blood clots and nose bleeds for over a year after that surgery. :green
 
I've broken my nose 6-7 times (fighting, rugby, etc) and I can only breath through one side. At one point my nose would not stop bleeding so they were going to caulderize my nose vessels. Well, I guess that scared my nose enough to stop bleeding :laughing

I've had my nose packed and dealt with the lack of sleep, constant nasal drip, and general ickiness of it all. It ain't no fun!
 
Dry heat (hot air) can dry out your sinuses, having high blood pressure and getting overheated can cause excessive nose bleeds. But thing is to tilt head back and put ice pack over top of nose. Aspirin thins out your blood so it's not good to take and will inhibit clotting.

You may want to get a humidifier for your bedroom to avoid going through this in the future.
 
I've never had my nose packed but I just recently had a bloody nose that wouldnt stop for hours. They discovered I had a sinus infect, shoved some cotton up my nose that was doused in something that made me unable to drive myself home from the er but made the bleeding stop. They also gave me good drugs and a nasal steroid. Havent had any prblems since.

Hope yours is nothing bad and maybe just a sinus infection.

Ah, ya bastids! That's the first thing my ex said..."so, you know you're too old for drugs" ahem dumbass, I replied haven't done it in years..so there!
But I have heard a lot of sinus infectious things are going on.
It sucks soooo much, but when I called the Doc crying this morning he gave me a hefty load of ValiuM.
Then, my friend called me crying saying she has a problem "that will never go away as long as she lives" so now I don't feel so bad at all!

but you looked great when I saw you on Monday! :cry A face full of gauze is a shitty way to spend the holidays but I wish you a quick recovery and at least you don't have what your friend got. A ton of people I know have come down with sinus infections in the last year - I don't know what the common denominator could be.
 
cause:

mold - various types, black is the most deadly. carpet mold - carpets are disgusting after five years. every time you vacuum, up comes the mold in the air and all the other life forms and bacteria that live in it.

drugs - meth, cigarettes, alcohol.

pollution - chemical toxins.

allegies - foods and airborne ones.

bad lifesytle - little exercise and resultant poor circulation.

cures: change the above problems, have more sex, walk, run, bike, get rid of your carpets.
keep a log of what you do before the onset.

one can get a colloidal silver mist inhaler at most nature foods stores and will help lubricate and irrigate the nasal passages.

a lot of people had sinus problems after coming back from burning man due to the amount of silica in the air from dust.
