I usually don't root for J Rea but for whoever can defeat him. However, this 2019 season, Rea has forced my admiration for how he managed the championship.
When Bautista was winning 11 races, Rea managed to be on the podium most of the time and cashed in the precious points.
When Bautista's luck ran out, Rea pulled out the hammer and hit back real hard.

Rea and his team are not 5-time SBK world champion out of pure luck.

Anyhow, at the end of Race 2, Lowes was hanging out in the parc fermé with the Kawasaki guys chatting with Haslam ... was that a sign that Lowes's heart has already changed from Blue to Green ?

Great weekend of racing across all classes. The WSS race was as crazy as WSBK race 1. SSP300 was good and we got a new champion. All Kawasaki weekend looking at the results but the racing was a lot closer among the different brands.

Kind of satisfying to see Rea wrap up championship #5 early after all shit he caught at the start of the year.

The emergence of Razgatlıoğlu and Bautista as challengers to Rea made for an interesting season. Now that we know Puccetti can field a race winning bike, that seat is more attractive to a top rider.

The ifs: If the Honda effort is what they promise; if BMW steps up; if Redding lives up to his potential and; if Yamaha keeps improving, next season has a lot of potential. Thats a lot of ifs.

..........
If the BMW gets more power next season could be real interesting. And it was good see Camier right back on form. Hope he gets a decent bike next season. Seems like there will be an opening at Puccetti Kawasaki.
The Honda had a higher top speed than the 3rd place BMW. I am not sure that is the whole story. Like MotoGP, where the M1 is competitive, I think the BMW needs the right rider. Not that more power is a bad thing. :gsxrgrl
(1) my vote put poll @ 120% - winner!!
Power, baby.
I had the pleasure of attending WorldSBK at Magny Cours last year...those guys know how to party!

A French Shervin? Sacre bleu! Gives me the shervin shivers.
The Shervin madness

the way I see it, thats just more people to occasionally win while Rea gets 2nd every damn race. lets not kid ourselves into thinking Redding, Raz, and Lowes will crash LESS than Rea. nor will Honda or BMW have bikes good enough to win, let alone win frequently. next season will likely be more exciting race-by-race. but it won't be a more exciting 'ship.

Rea is still going to be the guy who keeps everyone up at night. But its possible we have more people who can win races and more close races and thats more exciting than the championship. A bunch of exciting races and a boring championship is better than a bunch of boring races and a close championship, IMO.

agreed. but has that ever actually happened? maybe one of the 800cc era 'ships? nothing springs to mind.

IMO, a close 'ship makes even boring races feel more exciting. yet exciting races will never spice up a boring 'ship

Finally got around to watching race 2. I know I'm late to the party.

The first race and superpol were really really good, The second race had some excellent moments and it was good to see Rae fighting so hard when he didn't really need to in order to get the championship clinched. Such a bizarre championship seeing Bautista fall from what looked like a guaranteed victory. Been said too many times though.

Going to be interesting to see how toprak transitions onto the Yamaha and how Bautista develops the Honda.
