One of my favorite track day memories was from a 2 or 3 years ago.

I felt I was riding my "A" game in the "C" group at Infineon (the mind can be a very strong enchantress). I felt I was at full capable speed exiting turn 7 at Infineon dragging knee at the 2nd apex and ready to stand it up for the race to T8 when to my admonishment do I see out of my peripheral left eye vision is a BMW 1200 or 1300 enduro sport passing me on the outside. :laughing

So I settled in behind the guy for a little on track lesson.

After we exit the track I follow him to the pits and chat with him. He had just finished riding the Baha 1000 trail the week before on the same bike and this was his 1st track day.

He was fine looking man in his gentleman years and I said, "I think you have some seat time on motos!" His reply, "Oh, I've been riding motos of all types for 60 years or so!" :thumbup

PS: his bike was set up with the full touring package and he removed the hard sides for the track day.

One of my favorite trackdays was back in '04 at Laguna with the guys in the photo! Barf homeboys!

Bunch of other barfers there too. Just had a day in the groove. After a morning of good times I asked Mikey Judkin's, our barf racer if he wanted to go out and ride with Grandpa.

We went out.. Mikey flew by me on lap one and then I passed him back on lap two and we really rode hard for the full session.. he never showed me a wheel, but was right on my butt.. it was the 998 vs. the R6 that let Grandpa stay ahead..

Mikey was very kind and said..."Damn.. you ride good for a Grandpa"... big :teeth that day!

breaking the 2'51 barrier at thill! One day i'll break 2'50s... probably sometime next year. :party

Keigwins Intermediate School "Sprint" at T-Hill. (do schools count?)

Any trackday with Ernie.:teeth

Man........So many good ones with friends and great people, but the Keigwins Infineon on Dec 1 was a picture perfect day all around.
Infineon+ Perfect Weather+ fresh tires plus Fast Riders= Heaven.:cool

Oh, and there was a rider named Colin Portus who I rode with at 3J's charity or MojoTown? Had a blast riding with him all day.

Have to also mention Dirty D's backwards day and Vik Andersen...helped me out my first day back after a bad crash. He helped me through my post crash RickyBobby phase. Very memorable. :)

Both of my track days this year! First was a 2 day event at Miller Motorsports and the second was at Infineon in November. Miller was noteable because it was a return to riding on a track after not riding a motorcycle for 21 years and was a new track to me and lots of fun. Infineon was memorable because it was 21 years and a couple months ago at the Sears Point National where I last rode a motorcycle (track or street) prior to March of 2010 when my Wife purchased me an 2009 R6 marking my return to one of my true passions in life :teeth

It was also nice to hear from others that I ain't so slow....albeit for an old guy!

A quick two comes to mind for this past season, with the first one being the last time out at Infineon this past November. It's a favorite cause the weather was unbelievably awesome (70's to 80's!) for so late in the year, and I was riding with a couple of buddies, regardless of the group. My peeps think I'm joking, but I could care less about breaking a personal best; I always get my money's worth on trackdays when I get to ride with my closest friends too. :thumbup

Speaking of riding with closest friends, the other favorite was Z2's open trackday earlier this year in June. I was with a gang of my lovely peeps, so it was just like an all-day group ride at wonderful Thunderhill! All BARFers too. A day at Thunderhill with your fiance, French Bulldog, buddies, babes, and burgers is always a recipe for a great time. :teeth

Chasing around my buddy at thill, then seeing that he'd reached times that took me years to reach within his first ten trackdays.

Feeling slow while going faster than I ever had at the end of my first Ken Hill day.

Seeing that a tiny b-group wheelie became a cover shot on 4theriders

Falling in love with pirelli's after recovering from a big front end push.

Every time I've laughed outloud in my helmet goofing off around the track with my friends... those would take all day to remember and type. Trackdays are awesome.

Being passed by 3 Ninja 250's between T3 & T4 at Thill Monday :laughing

Gave me a great chuckle and let me know very quickly how much more I have to learn :)

But the Monday trackday was awesome as it was very open on the track, and the atmosphere was friendly among the drivers and motorcyclists there :thumbup

My goodness this post gave me one of those warm fuzzy feelings and put a huge smile on my face! :thumbup

Welcome back to two wheels and the wind in your face!

Probably the trackday at Sears Point where, after a fun and productive day, Yody and I went out to just mess around. Wheelies over 3, wheelies out of 8, wheelies out of 11, passing and repassing all over the place. We got back in and I checked the lap timer to find that I'd matched my previous fastest lap there. I learned a lot about going faster by relaxing and I definitely cleared a plateau that day.

Chasing Brian Bartlow around Thill. I'd inch past him before every corner then get passed within inches mid corner (me on the Buell him on the 250 of course). Some mightve (and were from what I heard) been upset by the closeness of his passes but I enjoyed the 4-5 lap battle and it also allowed me to set a PR of 2:12 flat (about two seconds faster than previous PR) even whilst throttling down early for some corners to stay behind him.

9/11/09 @ Laugna Seca. The no restriction day that Kegwin had. Best day on a bike ever. Hadn't ridden in just over a year or at Laguna since '99. Thanks to Ken Hill and an in home instruction class 2 weeks prior everything just came together. Picked C group mainly because of being off the bike for so long and always being on the verge of B but stayed in C. The day started with 2:01's. After a session (3 I think) with Vision wells and a fast time of 1:52.5 they said if traffic and I were perfect I be capable of :47's. It happened in the next session, 1:47.2 and a few 48's. All with my best friend in tow and only a couple tenths off my times. A close second would have to be this year on my wifes birthday 4/19 @ T-Hill, open day with Teddy. Dipped into sub 2's adn having great fun with Darrell again in tow. Not bad times for an old guy that rarly rides, I'm a track only guy. Till it happened, yep I highsided coming out of T-4. Luckily it was late in the day so I didn't take up too much tracktime for others, 4:15 and track cold at 5. Sorry guys. Honorable mention, this year at Atwater with my son. I actually pasted him on my NSF100. Mom said that he started moving his body position and draggin knee once he saw me doing it. A lap and a half later he repassed me and was gone. Dam kids FAST.See avatar pic

Well put together vid. I have not been to t-hill since oct 08......brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

Anyday at the track is a memorible day for me. I was lucky enough to get 20 or so track days in and 7 or 8 race weekends. Lots of good memories from 2010.....hoping for the same or more in 2011

I remember that crash at T-4, strange spot, what exactly was the cause? If I recall you ended up near T5, as if you had lost it very late on the exit of 4.

And that Laguna day sounds like a blast! Sub 2's at Thill is a good bit faster than C group though :twofinger. I suppose you could've been more rusty at the Laguna day, being your first day back in a while.
