Ironically, I was out @ the range with my EoTech mounted AR but had to stop by home to drop off my rifle before work; absolutely no firearms on campus policy. I always wonder; if you have the skill and capacity to respond - would that help or hurt the situation.

Maybe help in the very short term, but hurt in the long term. Police/witnesses won't know if you're a good guy or bad guy. You become a target. Best thing you can do is be the best witness you can be, and get yourself and all others that you can help out.

I just read a tweet by a guy who works at YouTube. He said after the initial melee, he was looking at *everybody* as the potential shooter. So if people see a good guy with a gun, they will automatically assume the worst. On the flip side, it was the good guy with a gun who stopped the Texas church massacre.

Honestly, it was the first thing I thought of after wondering if my friends were ok. I don't think that is a call to ban guns or gun control.

Regardless, it is being politicized already after unconfirmed reports of a headscarf, and Drudge running an ISIS story flashback. That's a hell of a lot more politicized than wondering if it has something to do with the recent debate about appropriate gun videos on youtube. We can discuss in this more in the politics forum.

I hope everyone is OK.

They had to evacuate and search 1700 employees, that's what I'd do drop the weapon and walk out with everyone else. =/
