Hey All,

Does anybody have a recommendation for a shipping company (for shipping pallets) . We have been using YRC (Yellow/Roadway) for years and recently they have been terrible (tanking twice as long to deliver our product). Their customer service is horrible and make promises that are not kept. So, we are looking for a new carrier. We use Roy Miller for California shipments (best for local shipments that I know of), but we need someone reliable for out of state.

TIA

LTL is always difficult cuz there's not many to choose from. How far out of state does the shipment travel....just along west coast or neighboring California states?

fedex? my companies logistics guy has yrc and ups and fedex and like other palmdale? (smaller local company on east coast) come out for lunch every month

we have 2-4 pallets that come in from overseas weekly from 2x different areas germany and switzerland....

so they are like wining and dining him (we in wine country) to get our business

fuck 1 year we even had fedex roll through with their 18wheeler nastycar race car and setup in our parking lot for a picture/show and tell - the driver wasnt there but the team mechanics and marketing were all there

Our biggest problem is shipments from Ohio to California.

I have not had luck with FedEx Ground so I assumed their Freight side would be the same. I will have to look into them and UPS to compare pricing.

Back in the day, I handled freight negotiations for a company. We shipped across the US and internationally; but mainly did FTLs in the US. From what I remember, FedEx and UPS don't offer great pricing unless you ship a lot with them. But they are reliable.

There are a lot of independent and small carriers out there, but unfortunately, they could lack the sophistication (GPS, dispatch, etc) and insurance coverage compared to the national LTL guys. I've used smaller outfits in the past with great sucess, but for sensitive deliveries, I we usually stayed with the national outfits.

I use a broker(Echo) and they mostly use R+L around here. Both have been awesome. Shoot a pm if you want the contact info for my Echo rep.

Contact RocketCargo, been using them as an LTL for 6 years and they've done us well. Lots of complicated shipments internationally/domestically. I've worked with them on truckloads of AV/event equipment into China, Egypt, London, France, Singapore, UAE, and dozens of states for carnets and perm imports.

They do a bunch of work with bands/artists/other entertainers, so I'm sure they could handle what you're dealing with.

I work with Joseph Pacheco and Mariana out of LA.
