2011 Spring Rally -- BARF does Quincy!

I'm busy thru early June :twofinger :flag

Got something for me later??? :teeth

Oh, and since we're NORTH of wine country, any reason not to have another wine tasting/comparo on the ride I WILL be able to go on? :laughing

Of all the weekends, it had to be this one. I have a long standing obligation in San Jose that weekend. The irony is I LIVE in Quincy...

I am hereby offering scouting services for planned routes in the area. We've had quite a bit snow this year with more on the way. Some of the roads may not be open when you guys get up here.

In!
(In some capacity?)
I'm in and I may actually do the ride from Covelo.
In :p

Last year 162 & La Porte roads weren't open until the middle of June. But if we have to ride 45 mi. up, get turned back cuz of snow drifts, then have to go up 70, that ain't a bad thang either. :laughing

(Here's 162 last JUne)

I can see a line clearing in that corner....
Yeah, we coulda made it through this little drift, but there wuz gonna be more; a lot more. As you can see, they weren't plowing. Farther up the road was impassable.

:dunno I've ridden it in May before. A little adventure is good for the soul. :ride

Tell her there is no harm in delaying her wedding by another month? :p

Al, 5/15 is NOT a good day to get married. :rofl

Bummer, wish we could do this ride together, it's been years!

Seriously. I literally have nothing on my calendar from March to June, except for May 15.

I texted her if I can just send them a couple of Applebee's gift certificates and we pretend like I was at the wedding... no dice...

Same here... Let's not psych our selves out about road closures yet. Squidhunter is kind enough to do some scouting for us before hand, so we will know better then. Logging is big business in and around Quincy, well, Northern California for that matter. There will be plenty of roads cleared for trucking purposes... and some of the logging roads are the best motorcycle roads in California. No worries there :thumbup

Am I crazy for wanting to take 49?

No, not crazy. 49 from Auburn to Grass Valley is deadly dull (well, not as dull as the valley, but, you know...), busy, and heavily enforced. Once you start getting to about Nevada City, North San Juan, etc., 49 gets to be more fun. Once you get to Bassett's you have a decision to make; continue on 49 over Yuba Pass, or turn on to Gold Lakes Hwy towards Graeagle. Either choice is a good one.

Sunday I will probably go down one of those routes, but I have different plans once I get a ways below Downieville. :ride

Tom has good plans for the ride up on Friday. Unless you absolutely want to ride the above route on Friday, I'd hook up with Tom. Otherwise, if you want to try out the party route, you can ride with me. :teeth
