Assen FP1 - Rossi Has A Get Off

Now he has an excuse for when Hayden beats him. If you are an American how about you try rooting for an American instead of jumping on the Rossi band wagon?:p

You would. I should root for a guy or a team just because it's a tradition, not because I followed his career and like his character. Besides I'm a man of nations, an international one not bounded by one single entity.

I'll admit it is a good time to be rooting for the Americans in a sense that they're growing underdogs (soccor, MotoGP, and now even basketball).

I always cheer for Nicky. Hopper on the other hand kinda bugs me because I've read on numerous occasions where he has said things to the effect that he's "a better rider than all those other guys". Well, it's ok for a racer to think that, but you should never say it out loud in an interview if you've never podiumed, and generally come in outside the top 10. Now, certainly he has been doing better lately, but I'd bet Rossi could podium on that bike!

Rossi probably did have a broken wrist, but his sheer talent and brute force forced himself to heal it quickly.

I like Hayden because of his personality and he has a good attitude. I also lived in Kentucky for a short time. He also finally put a stop to the Aussie's AMA win streak. I support my countrymen and believe in my sovereign nation. Most people are like me that's why we have different nations. Just look at the World Cup and the thousands upon thousands supporting their teams by wearing flag colors. And whether you like it or not if you are living in the U.S., you are bound to this country in one way or another (laws, culture, registering for selective service and customs).

Wow, just seen that clip. He tumbled pretty good.

GO NICKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO JR.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO HOPKINS!!!!!!!
& Colin's too, I guess.

Seems to be a good shot for Edwards to podium as he's riding this track well.

Valentino Rossi (12th - 1'39.458; 23 laps)

"I'm okay and I would like everyone to relax about it, even if it's been quite hard for me to ride! I have a little fracture on my left foot and also a small fracture on my right wrist, so when I give gas and brake it's really hard. I don't have much power or feeling. Plus I got a big bruise on my thorax and I couldn't breathe well for a long time. I had all the examinations necessary to check if everything was okay and with some painkillers I was able to ride this afternoon. The problem this morning was that we started with a tyre that was a bit too hard on the left. When it started to rain I stopped and when I started again I felt that I didn't have enough grip on the left side. I tried to do another lap to see if the grip would improve, but in a really fast point, with the bike leaned over on the left side, I took a flight through the air! It was a big high-side and the first time I hit the ground was very hard. It's a really unlucky thing for us because here I can feel that our bike is working really well, as Colin has shown. The track is not like the old Assen, but anyway it's not so bad. I need to see how it will be when I can ride at the maximum and hopefully I will feel in better shape tomorrow so I can do that."

The tumble was rough, but what was really startling was how long it took him to collect himself and get up. I've never seen anything like it from him after a get-off. If you can watch FP1 on MotoGP.com, you'll be in for a shock. Everyone in the paddock was worried.

Wow, that wasn't a gentle crash!

I'll bet that he's fast enough to beat everyone else by Sunday, especially with the new frame proving to be solid as demonstrated by Edwards who may also be up near the front!

I like it when Edwards has a good setup because he really likes to compete and doesn't mind riding close!

"My intention is to ride tomorrow but maybe I will need more pain-killers. " Loris Capisrossi.

"and with some painkillers I was able to ride this afternoon." Val Rossi

Yeah, just what everyone else out on the track wants to hear.

Eh, these guys probably have better concentration drunk than the front row of an AFM race. At the MotoGP level I figure they're smart enough to make their own decisions.

Maybe. I remember Hopkins having the special Dr. Costa painkiller brew last year to be able to ride with a broken ankle. He wasn't able to feel his foot, downshifted mid-turn, highsided himself into next week, broke his ass, and brought out the red flag.

You're so right, what was I thinking. I forget how we're #1 and everyone else is just competing for second, we're right and they're wrong, we win, they lose. AMERICA... FUCK YEA (melodically sung)! And if someone fucks up on our National Anthem again, I'm going to give them them the made in china boot back to wherever they came from.

Edwards paraphrased on the new changes to Assen:

"It's crap, honestly...It was the best in '95, '96 with the original track...every year they keep screwing it up piece by piece....the Temple of the Dutch TT of Moto GP has been diminished a little with what we have now."

...go ahead Colin, don't keep it in, say what you mean!

Good to see my boy up there. Last year, he was 3rd behind Sete and Vale. If Vale ends up being more affected by the injuries than 1st thought, and of course Sete is out, here's as good a chance as any for Colin to steal one.

..with Hayden coming in 2nd, of course :angel
