Assen FP1 - Rossi Has A Get Off

aussies for the world cup and the motogp... aussie, aussie, aussie..

Impressed with Stoner, I really like the kid, especially the way he sprung back up after that huge high-side. But my hopes to win Rookie of the Year is going to Pedrosa. Great battle taking place for the Rookie of the Year.

I think Stoner should be rookie of the year. He's been much more potent overall, IMO.

But, they've both been crashing wayyy too much!

"If you are an AmeDrican how about you try rooting for an American instead of jumping on the Rossi band wagon?"

Americans love winners don't they? Can you say fickle? How many losers do you all know that only root for their home team when they are playing in a Super Bowl, world series, NBA Championship or what have you? Don't even mention the world cup soccer. It's so fucking trendy and transparent. Wish I had the attitude of Nicky Hayen though; notice I didn't say Colin Edwards? May Nicky never grow old! At least not before he wins a GP title. Ofcourse I am someone who has ALWAYS loved the Raiders, even when they went to LA! So consider the source.:rant

i like Colin. he's got the mean cowboy way of thinking. i like that.

I like Colin too. He deserves a fighting chance. Good to see him up at the top of the sheets. If only he didn't always lose Rossi by such a huge gap, it'd look a whole lot better. Or just having another teammate. =P

And poor Shinya. I keep hoping that Kawi will get to the lead pack, but FP2 seems to show otherwise once people got on the pace...

But all in all, I'll be happy to see them two and Nicky in the top 10. I'd love it if they were all on the podium together too! haha. long shot, but who knows. this is probably the best shot they'll have with the Ducati's out of contention and Rossi and Marco injured.

And sidenote, I hope Haga gets it done too. haha.

Oh, and in regards to rooting for Americans, uh... that's a personal issue for each person. Each rider is riding for themselves firstly, and riding for country second. I'd love to see an American win, yes. But at the same time, I see RACERS, not flags, and that's the main point. National pride doesn't require a specific person, just a nationality. But to root for someone due to personal character, that is much more important to me than rooting due to geographical location. my 2 cents.

A Boston Morning news cast just showed Rossi's crash!!! :wow

"World motorcycle champion, Valentino Rossi, had a nasty crash in Germany. He walked to the ambulance after the crash. And get this. He will race this weekend."

Nice to get more exposure for the sport, even if it's the getoff's. :thumbup

In Europe it goes down under right now due to soccer world championship and tennis championships in Eastborne, they don't even show the 125s and 250s at all, just the GP.

Exposure? Crashes feed the news, yeah, but for non-riders only a reason to say "see? I knew that it is too dangerous".

Alex Hofmann gets on my nerves, he writes a column in "Motorrad" where he keeps saying how cool fast he would be and that his problems are always something other than his riding skillz. Boooring, I can see how he will blame his most likely lame race on not having enought time with his new material. Needless to say that we have young talent from the 250 series like Dani Pedrosa who did not have any problems with "new material".
Or - he is overmotivated and takes it out of a turn. :hand :zzz

Kudos to the injured riders who will already ride again, in Formula 1 they would have taken a time out in a plush private clinic somewhere...hahaha....sorry, I had to.... :laughing :laughing

yep, i agree.
did anyone else think that stoner's washout was the result of tire failure, rather than rider error. it didn't appear that he was on a bad line or tucked the front-end.

Naah... I think Stoner can ride really fast, but he rides even faster than that, and crashes as a result. He did it in 250, and he's done it in MotoGP what, three times out of seven races?

He hasn't done the math to realize that it's better to let the faster guy behind you pass you and beat you, then to crash, have him beat you anyway, and have everyone else beat you, too.

Of course, you could argue that he's trying to demonstrate his raw speed to get sponsorship money so that he can get a better bike and won't have to push as much to ride as fast, etc etc.

That said, go Nicky! and go Colin! Rednecks unite!

I really hope that they (Pedrosa and Stoner... even Vermeulen, who has been making some noise) continue to progress and can add some more excitement to the sport, because they better if they count on retaining some portion of its audience that's going to be affected win Rossi decides to go off into the sunset.
