Insurrection racing!!!

Hi Wade,

I work for ZoomZoom trackdays and I've been seeing a lot of your suits at our days. They seem to be really good quality and I'm impressed with the stitching system (one of the most important things to me), the fit, leather quality, and designs. Wondering if or Carrie will be at Thunderhill this weekend so I can get fitted up?

Thanks!

Carrie and I will be there both days and we'll be ready to fit anyone and everyone who would like to be fitted in PILOT! It's going to be a great weekend of riding, as Zoom Zoom puts on an awesome show! So, yes, definitely, come on by the Thunderhill ProShop and get fitted...the PILOT suits really do rock!!! :thumbup

Crossing my fingers that my new suit comes in time for the final round. :)

Question... I have been filling out the AFM contingency form at each event and checking PILOT on the form and I have been running the stickers on my bike since I placed my order. I just saw the special contingency form on here. As long as I turn it in for the final round am I eligible for the season contingency payout? In addition to owning a new set of custom, quality leathers, if all goes well at Round 8, looks like I will be getting an awesome return on my investment in PILOT leathers through the amazing contingency payout. :teeth

Jenn,

You're good...I just got the contingency update from PILOT last Friday. Just keep doing what you've been doing with AFM contingency and your second PILOT suit will be a steal!!! Even though you're not currently in PILOT, the PILOT purchase was made before the end of the season, so you're good for the $200.00 on top of the contingency award! Jason's good on the contingency too...just have him keep doing what he has been doing! Also, we're trying our very best to have you both in PILOT by this last AFM round!

It was ready & waiting for me when I pulled up to the pro-shop, before the first session on Sunday morning.*She did such an awesome job on it, it looks factory fresh. Thanks Carrie, your the best!!!

Not all rainbows and unicorns

I have thought long and hard about posting this but finally decided to.

I will preface this by saying I think Insurrection Racing are great people who have tried to please as many people as possible and were a little overwhelmed with the response they got for suits

On June 4th I wrote a check for 3 suits after talking to Insurrection Racing. I got all my personal measurements taken by Insurrection Racing on that date and the process started. The other 2 suits were for Rory Kamper and Justin Mastalka

July 29th I finally approved the design of my suit. Trying to get any of the Pilot logos removed from the suit was like trying to get Congress to pass a bill!!! I wanted the design to be exactly what I wanted not what Insurrection Racing and Pilot wanted, the whole point of a "custom suit" right?

Sept 9th My suit was at Thunderhill and I tried it on. The top fit well but the thigh area was very "baggy". This is where I started to get a little ticked off. Wade tried to convince me that it was the "industry standard" way the suit should look!!! I felt that the measurements that were taken should have been the size the suit was made? Reasonable assumption I though? I rode with the suit over the weekend and then gave it back to Insurrection Racing to have the adjustments made, that was Sept 11th. Beth went and signed some form that needed signed to get the suit changed as I was busy with announcing and racing.

Sep 30th I turn up for the Z2 track day before the AFM weekend after absolutely no communication from Insurrection Racing at all between the 9th and the 30th. Insurrection Racing tells me at the riders meeting that my suit will not be ready for the AFM weekend. In fact my suit had not been TOUCHED since I left it on the 11th. Insurrection Racing said there were a lot of leather repairs that were in line before my suit. If a "custom suit" is the wrong size then I would have thought that fixing it would move towards the front of the line? I visited the Pro Shop and spoke with Insurrection Racing and made my feelings know directly. There were other customers in the shop and I did not want to cause any type of scene so I kept it as low key as I could.

So my suit is supposed to be done by the next rack day at Thunderhill. The race season is finished so I am not in a huge hurry as there is not a lot of advertising value left for this year. Not sure when the other 2 suits are going to get to the riders either.

So from July 4th to October 3rd, 4 months and I still dont have my "custom suit"

To finish:

1. You are not buying a custom suit, you are buying a "tailored suit". A regular size with "modifications" done at a cost per modification.
2. Dont even thing about asking to get any of the Pilot logos moved or removed!!
3. Be prepared to wait, unless you are running up front in the AFM then you might get your suit faster or you can pay a $300 expedite fee if you want the suit in 3 weeks instead of 6 weeks

"you cant please all the people, all of the time"

"you cant please all the people, all of the time"

Alan,

I'm sorry that you chose to make this public, but I need to inform you, apparently, on a public forum, instead of in a mature private conversation, about the realities of your disappointments.

1. You chose to save on cost, foregoing the U and W measurements, the thigh length measurements. Therefore, we only took the thigh circumference measurements. And, yes, therefore, the length of the thighs are too long. This is not Insurrection's fault, not PILOT's fault, but your own, as you wanted to save money over getting the fit that we at Insurrection recommend. The overall effect of your choice is what you are, ostensibly, disappointed with. Thank you for this post, as, in the future, we will never be swayed by a customer who goes against our counsel to save money on measurements.

2. PILOT does not remove logos, period. Just like Alpinestars, Dianese, Vanson, etc. who make custom suits for racers, PILOT protects its branding and will not acquiesce to a subcontractor's branding interests. PILOT is the suit manufacturer and the PILOT logos stay. Removing logos has never been and never will be a practice of PILOT and the other major suit companies that are represented in the AMA.

3. I only told you that the thigh circumference was within industry standards. Again, I'm sorry that you chose to skimp on the thigh length measurements in order to save money.

4. We had over 30 suits for AFM racers that needed repairs before this last AFM weekend. Insurrection policy has always been about safety and keeping racers out on the track racing before alterations are made to remedy a poor choice made by an Insurrection customer. Had your suit been deemed unsafe, it would have been at the front of the line. It is not unsafe, therefore we were playing nice and trying to accommodate your request. Instead of you paying $100.00 extra, when you ordered the suit, to make the thigh length shorter and receive a perfect fit out of the box, now Carrie will be altering your suit, free of charge no less, to rectify this issue (I want to remind you that this is a $200.00 alteration on any suit).

5. Yes, you are indeed buying a custom suit with PILOT. We, and PILOT, just don't believe that taking 26 measurements off of someone's body and making them pay the highest PILOT price for a suit is the proper way to custom fit an individual. We, and PILOT, believe in putting someone in a fit suit and using that stock size as a point of reference and measuring out problem areas. Pricing these modifications individually gives customers the best possible value and CUSTOM fit. We have worked with another custom suit company for over ten years that only creates custom suits from a list of 24 measurements and the results are not nearly as good as with our current PILOT method.

Our fits with all of our other customers have been spot on, as they listened to our recommendations and paid for all recommended fit modifications.

In short, you ordered a suit; you wanted to get it as cheap as you could; it wasn't perfect, just as we told you; and now you are not satisfied. We offered to remedy the situation at no cost to you, but you've now decided to make this unfortunate situation public. Please call me today at 206-550-3545 to discuss this further. I will be available all day. Please DO NOT use BARF to continue this conversation.

Wade,
My intent was not to get into a public "pissing" match about this but: Comments inserted below

Alan,

I'm sorry that you chose to make this public, but I need to inform you, apparently, on a public forum, instead of in a mature private conversation, about the realities of your disappointments.

I came to the Pro Shop to have the mature private conversation over the weekend. There were at least 2 occasions where we crossed paths in the pits and you made no attempt to engage me in conversation even after I had been to the Pro Shop.

Can you tell me that the suit was made to the thigh circumference measurements that were taking at the time of fitting?

2. PILOT does not remove logos, period. Just like Alpinestars, Dianese, Vanson, etc. who make custom suits for racers, PILOT protects its branding and will not acquiesce to a subcontractors branding interests. PILOT is the suit manufacturer and the PILOT logos stay. Removing logos has never been and never will be a practice of the PILOT and the other major suit companies that are represented in the AMA.

As this is the first "Custom suit" I have ever purchased I was not aware of the fact that every suit manufacturer insists on keeping all their logos on the suit

3. I only told you that the thigh circumference was within industry standards. Again, I'm sorry that you chose to skimp on the thigh length measurements in order to save money.

What has thigh length got to do with thigh circumference. If the thigh circumference was correct then then maybe the length would not be a problem? Surly when you make a measurement that is the measurement for a "Custom suit" not "within industry standards"? Within industry standards is a "of the shelf suit"? No?

4. We had over 30 suits for AFM racers that needed repairs before this last AFM weekend. Insurrection policy has always been about safety and keeping racers out on the track racing before alterations are made to remedy a poor choice made by an Insurrection customer. (I want to remind you that this is a $200.00 alteration on any suit.)

See again I dont understand the 2 measurement having to be altered. If the thigh circumference was correct in the first place then the ONLY alteration should be to the thigh length? I dont remember the "fitting" suit being so long in the thigh

5. Yes, you are indeed buying a custom suit with PILOT. We, and PILOT, just don't believe that taking 26 measurements off of someone's body and making them pay the highest PILOT price for a suit is the proper way to custom fit an individual. I ordered 3 suits which was a win, win for both parties. Every small business wants to get the best value for their money.

You use BARF to make public all the success stories with suit but just because 1 customer is unhappy you dont want it posted? PLEASE!!!!!!
