Would a "last minute" trackday work?

I'll let everyone know once we know what the weather is going to do. Or if someone else wants the day, and we lose it because I wouldn't commit, then I'll let everyone know about that. So just keep your schedule free on that day in case the weather gods smile upon us.

As for payment, I can take credit cards, cash or checks (except from you Neil). Obviously I won't be taking money until we know that this day is actually going to happen. And paying on the day of the event will be fine.

HaHa!! :teeth

The weather look good!! Are we on or what? I need to get my bikes set up.. Plus I want to invite some other riders...

holy fuck i wanna go!!!!!!!!!!
is it wrong to move your kids bday party so mama can go play at the track?!

It depends on how old your kid is... but with 30 minute sessions and the possibility of riding in both groups, you might just get in a quick 150 miles and pack up a little early (3:30 maybe) and be home before dark.

Edit: I guess you wouldn't get back to Sunnyvale by dark... but close maybe.

Shit! I was off by a week!!! :-( to early to tell on the weather!!!! lol

Yes, definitely too early. Just for laughs I've been following Accuweather's 15 day forecast. I don't believe they can predict anything with any certainty past about 2 days, but I've been following it just the same. A couple of days ago they were predicting rain and a high of 48. Now they're saying sun and a high of 64. I'm sure the forecast will change 10 more times between now and then. I'm not going to even look at the bike until Weds. or Thurs. of next week (if the weather looks good).

As for interest... I think we've got enough. It's always hard to tell. I think if the weather is nice enough, and the price is right, there will be quite a few riders that decide on Friday afternoon that a day at T-Hill sounds like fun.

As far as price is concerned, T-Hill sent me a contract that doesn't really fit with my plan for this event. I hope they are willing to negotiate with me. As a rider first and a promoter second (a distant second) I know that a Feb. event at T-Hill is not really a part of most riders' trackday calendars. If someone asked me "Wanna ride at T-Hill on Saturday for $220?", I'd have to decline. I'd rather spend that money on a premium event (Laguna or Infineon) or on a premium month. But if someone said "Wanna ride T-Hill this Sat. for $150?", how could I pass that up? Who says "no" to a $150 weekend day at Thunderhill? Not me. But the contract I have in my hand doesn't work at $150/rider until we get to 95 riders. That's not going to happen, so the contract is going to have to change. I'm optimistic that Thunderhill wants to rent out the track as much as we want to rent the track. Let's hope so anyway. I'll be discussing that with them early next week if the weather forecast is looking good.

Sounds good. If they won't negotiate then sham on them. Better to make some $$$ than no $$$. IMO. Keep us posted! Weathers been crazy good and all I can think of is riding. Lets see what happens! Thanks for all your work on trying to put this together..

Im in on this. So thats a +1... i know my boy has 1 or 2 people down too so thats +4 dunno if he's already posted on this thread but we should make a roster of who's for sure down to go that way we have a better idea on price.

so far we're +4 definite. Got a few more possibles as well. The roster thing is a good idea.

Well, if it works out, I am a definite in. Plus a few friends, especially on a weekday. So that is like 3 or 4 on my end.

You might be surprised to know just how many riders prefer run groups. And just how many riders don't like the idea of an "open" track. I don't think anyone wanting an open day would stay away because we ran 2, 30 minute sessions per hour; but many riders wanting the structure of run groups might stay away from an open trackday.

I would guess the only people that would choose 2 groups over an open trackday, have never done an open day.

looks like it could be sunny, a little chilly, but sunny none the less. keep us posted.
