Street Racers, the show, who's watched it?

My LSA feels like its got some good low down torque.
I drove my friends C6 vette and yeah it didn't wake up till after 4k RPM where my LSA is coming on around 2.5k. Its still stoke right now but not for much longer. Once I get it tuned and the couple parts put on she should be about 600 or a little over at the wheels. I can throw up the dyno sheet once its done.

When they did the mega race thing with the outlaws vs Rollins they wanted to do 1/8th mile When Rollins said its 1/4 they tried to talk him out of it just because of the speeds they would be hitting. I can see that being a valid reason for the street. You need some long run off to scrub those kinds of speeds.

It's not the show that limits it, they choose to race the 1/8 because it is like 300X easier on the motor lol. Those cars CAN"T race past the 1/8, they don't have the gear and they make too much power to last that long.

Plus it gives the "slow" car a chance. 1/8 mile has really won me over

Way back at the start of this show, almost every one of those cars were typical 1/4 milers. (well, still well above average... but not unobtainium either)

There were choices made, and the cars then re-developed with those choices in mind. You are correct that they can't really do a full 1/4 mile anymore, but I still respect the choice, way back, to limit the raw top speed of the course by reducing the course length.

I mean they are still doing 150-160mph lol they ain’t slow. What’s really funny in back in the start, they had no clue on how to street race, and they still don’t but, they are getting better. They started to figure out the cars and make them work but, put them on a real back road and they will get worked. I even have video of it when they are not on a prepped road. Murder Nova and Boosted GT and our buddy beating both them.

Lol @ 8000 rpm because of the long rod.

Yeah, it's about slowing the piston speed down, and reducing rod angularity. In that combo, if you don't, it'll destroy the piston.

would love to see some pics of the beasts y’all are talking about. especially the nova.

I'll have to see if I can find the pictures (old enough that they're real pictures, from an actual camera). My car wasn't much to look at. All go, not show.

I almost put my motor in a '72 GT Vega, but the car was all original, and I just couldn't bring myself to hack it up. It was pristine. I probably would have been in the same ballpark as that, but with a serious weight advantage.
My paper racing expertise says you would have matched e.t.s with the lighter car.
:teeth
If I ever have the $ and time to hotrod, again, I would use the LS7 as a base, rather than stroke the small block.

Well that’s because you have a slow car. :x

And it’s just as fast as mine(doesn’t run)
hah!

I didn't mean to talk shit, it probably came off that way

Your average piston speed will remain the same, rod length doesn't change the stroke or the rpm. It does effect(affect? fuck you english) the acceleration rate and dwell times though which you're probably right have some effect on total rpm a motor can spin. That being said, for a given stroke in a given block there isn't going to be a real significant change in rod length workable since you can only make your piston so tall or so short.

All that being said, you get piston and crank for your application and you buy the rod length that fits between the two. Any other way and you're going about it wrong imo.

My small block has a 6" rod too. If i were to build that motor again i'd put a shorter one in it so i could move the rings down some more.

Anyhoo, 8000 rpm is screaming, once again not trying to make light of your accomplishment. Sounds like a well put together motor :thumbup

What is happening when the car lunges forward right before they go? Is that staging? Why does it look so violent?

-innocent noob.

Well now I know. Are manual transmissions so obsolete now that no one races with them any more? Are there just class's for Manual transmissions?
