Street Racers, the show, who's watched it?

Well now I know. Are manual transmissions so obsolete now that no one races with them any more? Are there just class's for Manual transmissions?

pretty sure the import guys still do

some people are running clutchless manuals but they're not near as common as automatics since you're def not fitting one under an unmodified transmission tunnel and they're typically more expensive.

They have classes for everything, there may be a manual class somewhere in the country but I couldn't tell you what it is.

In the mid 2000's I had an uncle who 1/8 mile bracket raced a firebird formula for a minute. He ran it with a manual back then. The car was mostly stock but with tires and suspension work to make it hook up. Thats about all I know about drag racing lol.

hah!

I didn't mean to talk shit, it probably came off that way

Your average piston speed will remain the same, rod length doesn't change the stroke or the rpm. It does effect(affect? fuck you english) the acceleration rate and dwell times though which you're probably right have some effect on total rpm a motor can spin. That being said, for a given stroke in a given block there isn't going to be a real significant change in rod length workable since you can only make your piston so tall or so short.

All that being said, you get piston and crank for your application and you buy the rod length that fits between the two. Any other way and you're going about it wrong imo.

My small block has a 6" rod too. If i were to build that motor again i'd put a shorter one in it so i could move the rings down some more.

Anyhoo, 8000 rpm is screaming, once again not trying to make light of your accomplishment. Sounds like a well put together motor :thumbup

No worries, I didn't take it that way.

They have a whole class, gear bangers.

72SBC, here's the current fastest hot rod in the family. My brothers "work" ride. He went on to make a living racing. NHRA won't allow them to run because it's got 4 cams, but would be the only car in the Promod field with heads that come on a car that rolls off the production line. They race NMCA. Pretty much fuck the NHRA.

AWESOME - but would have loved to hear it more going than coming.

I'll have to see if I can find the pictures (old enough that they're real pictures, from an actual camera). My car wasn't much to look at. All go, not show.

sleepers are THE BEST!!!! would still LOVE to see me some nova - have a soft spot for them, and also chevelles. other fav that i knew of personally was a friend who had a beater nomad. totally built small block chevy. anyone who saw it would have thought it was a pile of junk. first time the dude who owned it took me for a ride in it, when he hit the gas, it lifted the front wheels, pinned my head against the seat, and took off like a rocket. i couldn’t stop laughing it was so awesome.

That’s tight man, the 4v heads are beast. Single turbo car isn't it?

Nah man! Can't go 5.80's at 250+ with just one. I think they are 94mm turbos. They debuted their second Promod this season. Currently the world's quickest and fastest Mod motors.

^ That fuckin guy, Rich Christensen, was/is as bad as the dude from Pawn Stars. Maybe worse.
Tubby one or Tubby two?
Interesting that you brought that up, because my biggest annoyance is that they only race 1/8th all the time. That isn't a race. That is like calling a walk to the refrigerator "exercise".

Anyway, as long as they kick Richard Rawlings ass, I am happy. ....
I have become addicted to this show. Pathetic. :(

I just wish they would race other clubs more often. Watching the same guys wack on each other is boring. And where are the women, dang it?

Of course it is no longer true "outlaws"! When Monza had his serious crash, the EMT (fire department) were there instantly. But, it is still street racing with ENGINES. And I like engine racing. :gsxrgrl
