My house, not my cat. Neighbors orange cat named Kitty (wow what an original name) keeps coming into my house

You are exceptionally lucky to have been chosen by this gorgeous hunk of carnelian-colored feline finery. Don’t listen to the rumors; They are lovely cats with a wonderful demeanor…they’re no trouble at all! Enjoy your new cat!

Whenever I’m gone for a few hours the cat will pull a pair or two of socks from my drawer and drop them near the door.
She usually wants to get petted before I leave, by running to the stairs and flopping down on a step waiting for it. If I leave without petting her cause she’s hiding under the couch or somewhere, she’ll usually have a few pairs of socks pulled out of the drawer by the time I get home.
Today I didn’t pet her cause she was too busy looking out the window as I was leaving. The gf got home an hour ago and said the cat had pulled almost every sock out of the drawer, over a dozen pairs spread throughout the place.
Don’t know if this is concerning behaviour or just an amusing personality.

In my opinion it's nothing to worry about.

What TWT said. I had a cat once who would drag my slippers out to the driveway every chance she got. I just loved her more for it.

A word of advice, though: Never fail to pet her before you leave, no matter how busy she is!

She’s an oddball in that the stairs is where she mostly wants to get petted.
She’ll lie at the foot of the bed at night and if you pet her more than a few times she’ll likely jump down on the floor and walk away. But in the morning she’ll trot to the stairs and stare at you until you pet her, then same when I get home. The sort of thing you’d expect only a dog to do.
Get up at 3am to make a pit stop and she’ll run to the stairs in front of me, go halfway up and plop down for a petting. At that hour I just want to do my business and go back to bed so I try and trick her by first taking a few steps in the opposite direction of the stairs hoping she’ll walk that way first, then I do a 180 and head up the stairs to the bathroom. When pitstop is completed there’s a pretty good chance she’s waiting on the stairs seemingly knowing I have to walk past.
If she makes it to the stairs before me she’s won, I have to stop and sit there for at least a few minutes until she’s satisfied and had enough attention.
