She’s an oddball in that the stairs is where she mostly wants to get petted.
She’ll lie at the foot of the bed at night and if you pet her more than a few times she’ll likely jump down on the floor and walk away. But in the morning she’ll trot to the stairs and stare at you until you pet her, then same when I get home. The sort of thing you’d expect only a dog to do.
Get up at 3am to make a pit stop and she’ll run to the stairs in front of me, go halfway up and plop down for a petting. At that hour I just want to do my business and go back to bed so I try and trick her by first taking a few steps in the opposite direction of the stairs hoping she’ll walk that way first, then I do a 180 and head up the stairs to the bathroom. When pitstop is completed there’s a pretty good chance she’s waiting on the stairs seemingly knowing I have to walk past.
If she makes it to the stairs before me she’s won, I have to stop and sit there for at least a few minutes until she’s satisfied and had enough attention.

I picked her up from a local shelter one year ago on Thursday, and looked a bit rough that day.
The gf didn't really like her that visit and wanted a different cat. That wasn't happening.
Here's a couple of pics taken within 20 minutes of being introduced to my place, getting cozy right from the start.

She turned into quite a beauty, IMO, with an awesome personality. It was a good day to visit the shelter.

we got a black kitten from a shelter. went there to get a ‘cute’ kitty. naturally, we picked the scrawny little one that looked like a rat with ears the size of it’s head. we looked at the kitten, looked at each other, both thinking the same thing. ‘no one will ever want this kitten’, so of course, it’s coming home with us. grew into a ginormous, gorgeous, sleek beast. awesome personality. awesome hunter. we’ve had a lot of great cats, but that one rates right up there at the top.
 
A lot of people have asked to have one of her kittens and are disappointed when told she’s been spayed by the shelter when dropped off there, about two weeks before I dropped in.
Im kinda disappointed also. Bet she would have had awesome kittens.
