Leica Summicron-C filter adapter ring


I just recently found out that the filter thread pitch on vintage Leica Summicron-C (40mm f/2) was “0.75mm”, which is pretty unusual.
Almost everything (filter) you’ll find is “0.5mm” thread pitch.

Some filters won’t go on at all, because the aperture ring is protruded from the lens front.
Some filters, such as Leica E39 M13131 would fit, sort of.
Despite the wrong pitch, M13131 can be screwed in, for a couple of turns. But you should stop right there, as soon as you start feeling the resistance.
If you force, keep screwing in, you’ll strip the thread on the lens.

I found an adapter ring, specifically made to solve this problem.
So I got one, and made a video.

Thanks for making me feel old. I remember working on those when they were still brand new.

But damn that’s a sweet find. 1998…is that the last year of the OBS?
 
Thank, yeah last year of the OBS. Kinda wish it was 4X, but then again, I'd only use it on a boat ramp and even then, probably use a different truck anyway. I was super pumped to see it had the 5.7L...FWIW, we're not "old". We're vintage.

I bought this sexy thing to prevent my left foot from becoming misaligned, which can lead to bunions. My PT informed me that bunions are a common but unwanted side effect of midfoot fusions. :x

Did it once on a moto; hated it went back to stock.

Did it once on a car because I had to; rusted exhaust.

Sounded great but it was a local job done using a Flowmaster exhaust. 280z.

I could swear mine had a little more to it, but the car was already obnoxiously loud stock. But yes a dyno run showed what really mattered. Was shocked to see I picked up something like 80 ft lbs of torque from this.

A bit far. I'm up in Sonoma County. I will be getting a set soon though. I'd get a lift in the garage but there is a beam right down the middle (from left to right) that's in the way. It would be nice to put the Miata up for "storage" and put my daily underneath.
