Last night at the South Bay Sportbike Night at Santana Row, 12 bikes rolled through after they took a quick glance. I know not everyone that rolls through the area was heading specifically for Sportbike Night, but it got me curious because for once everyone else around me was wearing a vest and I wasn't wearing my kevlar vest.
Why do people avoid other people wearing vests?
Call me naive, but whenever I go out and I see a cool bike, Harley, sportbike, or otherwise, I check it out, even if someone is there wearing a vest. I can't think of a single time that I avoided someone because they had a specific club's vest on. I also can't think of a time that a club wasn't welcoming, Bushido Ryders and Ruff Ryders having some of the funniest stories to tell. Yes, I know RR gets a bad rep around here.
If you're wondering, yes, I too do get the feeling that a few avoid me like the plague when I wear my kevlar vest. It's either that, or because I ride around on an EX250.
And no, it doesn't bug me one bit because I'm always having fun at a meet.
