Why do people avoid other people wearings vests?

Last night at the South Bay Sportbike Night at Santana Row, 12 bikes rolled through after they took a quick glance. I know not everyone that rolls through the area was heading specifically for Sportbike Night, but it got me curious because for once everyone else around me was wearing a vest and I wasn't wearing my kevlar vest.

Why do people avoid other people wearing vests?

Call me naive, but whenever I go out and I see a cool bike, Harley, sportbike, or otherwise, I check it out, even if someone is there wearing a vest. I can't think of a single time that I avoided someone because they had a specific club's vest on. I also can't think of a time that a club wasn't welcoming, Bushido Ryders and Ruff Ryders having some of the funniest stories to tell. Yes, I know RR gets a bad rep around here. :p

If you're wondering, yes, I too do get the feeling that a few avoid me like the plague when I wear my kevlar vest. It's either that, or because I ride around on an EX250. :p And no, it doesn't bug me one bit because I'm always having fun at a meet.
 
What is theis "kevlar vest" of which you speak? Is it, like, for keeping you from being killed by bullets? Because *I*, for one, would stay the fuck away from anyone who thought they were a bullet magnet. :|
 
You say we drawing negative attention but yet even the cops stand around and chat with us and laugh... Perfect strangers stop and talk story, ladies walk up with there children ask to take pictures on the bikes etc... Come on not every one of us is getting negative attention, and yes all those things happen last night. I’m sorry you think and feel that way it seems very narrow minded if that is what you really are about. Yes I will give you credit there are those Vested people and in some cases (clubs, crews, groups) that cause a negative reaction through there actions.

If you have not noticed these forums lately there are a lot more events being put on and hosted by Clubs. Bay Area Delinquents Tour the Bay, Curve Unit BBq fund raiser, Bushido Ryders Women’s and Children’s shelter of Santa Clara County fund raiser, SBF has also put on fund raisers. These are just a few to note as of the past few months. I feel the remark is appropriate but only to an existent is it true! Take note there is an all clubs event tonight at Dave and Busters Called a Family outings night. Everyone is invited out to hang out and meet other riders and please bring you family friends and children (I'm bringing mine). Yes Club members our people with vest have families and children.

Sorry but as said yes that is the way people feel but try walking up to a person with a vest on. You find you have allot in common with them and that they are a Hell of a nice person. Altomista has seen us before and hung out with us and he understands as it seems allot of other are starting to. By the way you for got it was Bay area Violators LOL not ruff Ryders that where there LOL no prob.
 
Some people are just too lilly livered or judgemental to strike up a conversation I guess? Fuck em *shrug*

You guys are wearing costumes to associate with one another and portray a certain image. If it wasn't to identify with a particular group, you'd carry a card in your wallet, where no one could see it. Don't be surprised if others don't want to associate with you, especially if your costume says "I'm so tough and get shot at so often I have to wear a bullet proof vest all the time."

Are you really talking about a bullet proof vest, or just a vest that shows you're a "Hells Angel" or something?

Reminds me that bomb squad shirt that says if you see him running, try to keep up...

I dont wear a bullet proof anything??? I have a back protector and a leather vest and my jacket thats it... same with the rest of them as far as I know...

no its funny he wears a real Kevlar vest no joke. But there are no oatches or markings on it at all. He wears it under his riding jacket, but when he is at a location he has it on ...
 
curve unit has vests and I think that people like to talk to them.
of course they look much Hawter in thier vests then you do in yours.

Altomista and other twofiddy riders are quite intimidating on those big ol' loud twofiddys.

maybe we should start a 3 patch club for 250 riders, Hecks Little Ninjas.

What image might that be?, Track riders wear full suit all the time and on the streets, Would people think they speed and think they're so cool to talk to anyone whos not wearing a suit too?, You say "dont be surprised if others dont want to associate with you", If they had a good reason why they dont want to associate with me then i would understand, But "hes wearing a vest" reason is not even close to a good reason, Have you ever met Al before to assume such thing like that?, He likes to wear it because he likes to wear it, Hes not out there causing chaos and trouble, Hes a very helpful person and helps anyone who needs help, I thought we riders are out there to support and help each other and ride together, Not hate on each other because we are all different, I've read some of your post before cardinal03, I would not expect this kind of answer from you, Was i too quick too judge there?
