Power up to 45hp, 28ft/lb torque, all while reducing weight by 13 pounds vs the Ninja 300.

Still has slipper clutch & ABS.

I'm expecting there will be a Versys 400 as well.

Thoughts?

I like the Ninja 300 but wished it had extra oomph. The 400 is the answer. Weight reduction is a bonus.

Its direct competitor, CBR400R, already exist overseas for a few years now.

Ninja 300, Ninja 400, Ninja 650, ZX636, ZX1000, Ninja 1000, ZX14.
Product saturation...

It don't make sense.

Why not?

300 is being replaced by the 400, which is quicker and lighter. It will be the gold standard of small displacement motorcycles, just like the 250 and 300 were.

The 650 is a piece of shit. Heavy, slow, and bad handling. Basically a beginner highway bike.

Bandit and FZR 400 called wanting to know why did it take so fuckin long LOL.

Man, where were all the buyers back when they could have imported NC30/35 GSXR400 ZXR400RR CBR400RR and FZR400RR ??? THEY were super small displacement bikes. But the OEM said they would cost as much as a 600...

Mad

I think so also. Back in my day the 400 class was the most popular.

Bring back an RD400 and I'll get excited...

Anyway, this looks good, it is nice to see manufacturers investing in the smaller bikes, they'll bring in new riders, some of which may actually learn and grow in to buying bigger bikes.

The Ninja 300 is slow and heavy; this does seem like a good step. Interesting that they're replacing the 300 just as that WSS class is getting going...

The 650 still has more power and a better power:weight ratio, but a quick light bike is always fun. We'll see if this fits the bill.

Why would it need 2 rotors?

Supermotos that make more power than this have no problems with brakes, with one rotor.

It's a kind of "dunno" type of answer. Simpleton me thought that perhaps above a certain weight and power, a sprotbile worth it's salt would automatically have two rotors. But fair, the CBR500R also only has one rotor. I suppose it uses half rotor wax, so a can lasts twice as long. :laughing

Supermotos are play bikes, this one will get tracked alot.
The Ninja 300 and the R3 are tracked a lot with only one rotor.

Yeah, but is that an ABS sticker above it?

The 300 comes with ABS and one rotor.

Only one front rotor?

What is the purpose of the second rotor on such a light bike?

The Ninja 400 will have the biggest size front rotor out of all the other bikes in the class, so should have ample stopping power.
