@#@#*&^%$!!!!1 (craigs ads rant)

Do you get all up in arms when you see something that isn't 100% relevant in your Google or Yahoo searches? No?

Last time i used yahoo for a search, the first 20 finds were all sponsored results. I went to google, not as bad, but still a lot. What happened to getting useful information quickly.

Yeah that CL pisses me of too.

I grabbed the first offender I found in a Ducati search. It was for a Honda CRF-450.

At the bottom was the following line:
KEYWORDS: crf 250, CRF 450, honda, suzuki, kawasaki, ktm, 125, cr kx drz kxf cbr ninja, ducati, crf230, crf150, motorcycle, muffler klx crf50 xr, yamaha yzf yz

There are much worse examples. Why put "ducati" in this list when Ducati doesn't make dirt bikes and is not related to this bike in any way whatsoever other than having an engine and two wheels?

This is what needs to be stopped. How can you defend this person?

Once again. Learn how to search. There's "community policing" and there's abusing the system in place. Have you read what "Miscategorized" is meant to be used for? "Wrong category, wrong site, discusses another post, or otherwise misplaced" Was the motorcycle listed under "Motorcycles/Scooters"? Yes? Was it obviously accidently posted on craigslist? No? Was it a discussion of something other than that honda dirt bike? No? Was it generally misplaced? No? Well then I guess it wasn't MISCATEGORIZED.

Stop abusing the system in place. kthnx

So, the community at large has decided that posting all those keywords was unacceptable and re-posting 3-times a day just pisses 'em off and from then on out, you are REALLY on their shit-list so good luck on anything staying up longer than 10 seconds...

The "community at large" or 5 wanna be craigs list vigilante's who don't know how to properly use the flagging system. Also, you have NOT seen his ad, so you do not have a foot to stand on regarding making a comment like that. Kthnx.

Still don't buy it. It's an utter crock of shit.

If you want to increase your exposure to your target audience, use keywords like "dirtbike". But the above poster inserting "Ducati" into his listing for a dirtbike is just a selfish waste of bandwidth and other people's time - not to mention degrading the quality of a powerful marketing tool that was provided to him for FREE.

Another thing I really fucking despise on CL is when someone inserts a random clipart image into their ad so their title shows photos available in order to get more hits because they're too fucking lazy to get/post photos.

And you can shove your stock photos up your ass - "looks the same as the one in this photo" is one of the most abused lies on the internet.

FWIW, if your friend would have used legitimate PERTINENT keywords in his ad, he wouldn't have gotten flagged. Holy fuck that makes sense, doesn't it?

I got flagged by some Ducati maniac for posting my 2004 VFR with a " I will consider trade for Ducati Monster" or like bike.
First he emailed me and asked what my ad had to do with Ducati. I emailed him my bike was too big and I was looking for a Monster
He emailed me back again saying what does my ad have to do with a Ducati. I'm assuming it was he who flagged my ad.
Lucky I've met so many decent Ducati folk as ptherwise I would have a pretty harsh opinion of thems.

It wasn't me. I at least check for stuff like that and let those go. However, when someone says "similar to Ducati, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Triumph", and so on, they deserve a double flag for trying to pull one over on us.

That's pretty crappy, I agree

That's double crappy.

Craigslist is what BARF could be if we had no profiles and moderators and baning.. so .. there.

BTW, let me point out that Craigslist has its own forums, so maybe people can start a discussion complaining about Craigslist in its own forums . Or rants and raves.

Funny, if you actually look at the flagging and help forums, one of the BIGGEST things that will get you flagged is... having a shitload of keywords in your ad that have no relevance to what your posting!! So, since the community at large (more than just your 5 so called vigilantes) thinks keywords suck, your post goes bye, bye! Oh.. so sorry, please try again... So they keep craigslist useful while the keyword spammers get all butt-hurt over it and go crying like some petulant five year old screaming "It's NOT FAIR!!" a the top of their lungs hoping somebody, ANYBODY, will listen to their pedantic dribbles and make the Big, Bad and Scary adults leave them alone...

And just in case you need a little bit of help finding it... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/forums/?forumID=9

Jeezus! Not this crazy womans photographs!

There was a HUGE flamefest on the intarwebs about this psychotic baby abusing photographer last year. A hilarious thing it was. But those babies are tortured for 'art'. (she makes them cry by giving them candy and taking it away, or other perverse things) Then she over photoshops them. *ugh*

The 'debate' even made it into printed publications when this lady had an article about her in one of them.
