I noticed a little crack in the turn signal toggle switch, (see above pictures)
With no spares available, Larry figured out a fix.
Note: plasti-fix doesn't stick to this type of plastic. Neither does JB Weld Kwik.
Urethane bumper repair, however. . .
Exhaust work.
A couple of the parts have been impossible to find, so they get cleaned up as best as they can be.
The Marving mufflers are due to arrive tomorrow. We'll see how close they look to OEM. We know the mounting bracket is completely different, as is the exhaust end, but the silhouette should be similar.
If you don't mind greatly, could you describe how the stop switch manages to pivot?
This image has me boggled for some reason. Have they overcome conventional physics?
If so, why?
Exhaust was waiting for the muffler packing (exhaust gaskets that go between the down pipes to the power chamber, and power chamber to the mufflers) from 4 into 1, they came in today.
And, the horn I ordered from eBay still needed work. Larry spent 2 hours cleaning off rust. (the old horn was so rusted that it wouldn't have been possible to restore it)
The throttle cables arrived from CMSNL today.
Both were supposed to be NOS.
One was definitely new, the other. . .
Larry thinks that someone ordered a new one and then did a return, putting this in the bag.
Hard to say. CMSNL uses several suppliers. Either way, this sucks.
Opened a support ticket, hopefully they fix this quickly.
CMSNL sent a replacement Pull cable the next day, along with my order of bands & clips. Carbs installed, we're still waiting for the OEM breather tube, but Larry cobbled a workaround.

Looks like a great rebuild! I brought my 1982 CX500 Eurosport with me from the UK, and I keep hearing horror stories about getting it registered (missing a emissions compliance sticker). How did this work with the Canadian models? Was this all 'back in the day'?
You must be the one from the CX forum I pm'd.
Our bikes fall into vintage import laws. As long as you have the import paperwork, you can get it registered. The biggest problem is a discrepancy between when it was imported and when you decided to try to register. This can end up costing a lot of money. My recommendation in this case, you bought a frame, and just finished the build.
The second biggest problem can be the lack of a federal exhaust stamp. While this shouldn't be a problem with a vintage import,
This is why:
Find a DMV employee who knows this, you'll be good to go.
If they give you any crap, bring copies of the pertinent law with you and ask for a supervisor.
Happy to hear I'm already leaving an impression before the bike has even been out on the road!
Thanks for the links and information, I'll dig in. If somebody sees as suitable frame/rolling chassis in the meantime, still interested! It would be nice to have that sticker...
