2014 KTM 1290 Super Duper Duke First Look

I like the other Superdukes, but this is ugly. I am sure it'll be one hell of a machine, though.

Look to be very similar to my (ex) Ducati Streetfighter S, but hopefully without the Ducati "issues".

With an RC8R pipe and can the whole single sided swinger would be visible, awesome.

KTMs have amazing suspension stock...and with that much powah...oh my, time to save up.

A 180 HP super moto! That think looks like just too much fun. You'll need a second identity with a license you can afford to loose.

Serious awesomeness. I love my '08 990 with 118 hp. The new 1290 looks frighteningly fun.

Might have to sell my S3 and Tiger and pick one of these up!

How tough is an oil change? Can it be done with two or less sockets and a wrench?

Could you elaborate on that? Is it one of those situations where you virtually have to drop the engine and turn it upside down to get the oil to drain out? (No experience with KTM's, but a friend is trying to convince me in getting a 990 SMT...would rather my next bike not be a maintenance nightmare)

"180 peak horsepower claim rings in at 8870 rpm for the 1.3 liter mill, with peak torque at 106.19 lb-ft. KTM promises plenty of pull down low too, with 73 lb-ft available right off the bottom at 2500 rpm. "

"0-124 mph in 7.2 seconds"

Looks fucking beautiful to me.

I've been told that KTM's are notoriously complicated when it comes time for something simple, like an oil change.

I have owned three KTM's (currently own two) KTM is by far the easiest bike I have ever worked on.

Never had one issue with reliability with any of them. Not one.

When KTM says "ready to race" they mean it. For both performance and ease of maintenance.
