2019 - 2026 Wednesday Night Drags Sonoma

Anything in the 9’s is amazing and must be fun as hell.

Best time ever. :Port

I recommend everyone try it. The Guy on the Harley that made it to the finals, this was his first time ever!

It's a blast!

Race day. Racing starts at 4pm get there early to pass tech and be ready to race. $35 to race.

Be sure to honk at the blonde kid on your way out!
One thing she says she hates about her new hours is not being able to "talk to my guys" as they're checking in.
Good luck tonight, Joe!

Wow Craig was killin it, he got some good passes in and took the win

We had another good bike count with a variety of bikes. Weather was more like the normal Sonoma windy stuff. Total car count has been low so another good day to make a lot of time runs. My first run of the day was my quickest. Funny how the good ones don't feel that fast at all. I ran a 9.17 at 147mph. The next 2 runs were in the other lane and I spun off the line in each of those, running in the 9.4 and 9.5 range. Next, I started getting ready for eliminations, so I deep staged for the rest of the runs, the times slow down when I do this but the reaction times get better. I'm all over the place so picking a dial in time is going to be fun.

Round 1, my clutch is starting to feel funny so I'm not sure how long I will be able to race. Feels like I am starting to warp some steels again (story of my life). Round 1 I'm running against Alfredo on his Harley street bike. I dial a 9.35 and he dials a 13.99. I have a good light, .046 to his .248 so this will be a easy win for me as long as I don't mess up. I don't and get the win, I run a 9.433 to his 14.141 and I win by .2704. The clutch is working fine so I continue on. Next up is Sean, who eliminated me last week. He is on a different bike and I want some payback lol. I dial 9.35 again and Sean dials 10.90. We take off and I have another good light, .042 but Sean is killing the tree and has a .008 light. I have to make up ground and come around him on the other end and take the win. I run a 9.429 and Sean runs a 11.035. I win by .0226. Next round I face Tom Myers on his Fazer. Tom has already cut a .007 light so things are not looking to good for me. I dial a 9.37 and Tom dials a 13.40. Tom leaves first and I instantly see my win light come on, Tom Red lights and I get the win. I run a 9.396 and Tom runs a 13.498. Final round, I am facing Craig Love, son of Doug Love. Craig took his Dad out a round earlier. I dial a 9.35 and craig dials a 11.84. I have a great light .010 and Craig is not far off with a .024 light, going to be a close race. I catch him and cross the finish line first, but it is not to be, I break out, running a 9.348. Craig gets the win running a 11.862, his margin of victory is .0443.

It was a fun night and one that lasted longer than I thought for me. The clutch is already back together and I am ready for next week. Only 2 more race dates in July, the 6th and 13th. The nationals will be there 22nd-24th.

Wednesday 7-13-22 race day. I was out last week with a touch of the virus but feeling fine now. This will be the last Wednesday night race for July. The big boys will be running later this month. Next Race in August will be the 10th. $35 to race, get there early!

Quick recap of Wednesday's results. Tyler Christle defeated Doug Love for the win in motorcycle. It was a double break out and Tyler got the win. The Sonoma headwind was back and the times reflected it. I made it through the first round and then was eliminated in the second round. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong. I had a terrible .461 reaction time and then broke out myself trying to catch my opponent, running a 9.352 on a 9.38 dial in. That's what happens when you fall asleep at the starting line. Wednesday night drags returns August 10th.

Race results from 8-10-17

The famous Sonoma headwind was back in full form. We started with 16 bikes in the field. It was good to see Merlin back out on the Sur Ron. Jenifer on her Ducati was the #1 qualifier with the best reaction time of the bunch.
First round I am pair against Merlin, in a rematch of our historic final from a year or two ago. The Sur Ron is not running as good as normal so that means I will be waiting a long time before I have to try and catch him. Merlin dials a 20.10 and I dial a 9.37. Merlin slows to a 20.491 and I run a 9.42 and head to the next round. Next round I am racing Ron on his very nice looking sv650. Ron dials a 13.50 and I dial a 9.37. Ron runs a 13.11 and I run a 9.33 trying to catch him and I get the win in a double break out. Next up is Jennifer on her Ducati. She always has great reaction times, but I think she may get a little intimidated when she has to race me. She dials a 12.90 and I dial a 9.31 as the bike seems to be getting quicker as the air gets better. Jennifer has a not so great .227 reaction time to my .044 light. She ends up running a 12.477 a big break out for her and I run a dead on 9.314 for the win. That win puts me in the the finals against none other than the great Dough Love on his deadly Triumph. I have a slight points lead heading into this race, so this I hope will be a good race. I dial 9.30 and Doug dials in a 13.10. Doug leaves with a .078 reaction time which leaves the door open for me. I take off and instantly see Doug's win light start flashing, I must have left early. Sure enough, I get to the ticket booth and i left -.001 early. It would have been a great run as I again ran my dial 9.306. So close yet so far! With the win Doug takes a slight lead in the points total, or should I say points lead in one version of the points total. Long story.....

Wednesday race day. Going to be warm. Will probably be a lot of cars for this event. They are having a special Jackpot class and a lot of cars from Sacramento will be there. 8-17-22.

Won't make it. I got a new motor for my bike today so hopefully I can get it installed and running by next week :)

Results from 8-17-22.

It was a surprisingly good day. I thought it was going to be warmer, but the heat stayed away. The head wind didn't show up either. My first two practice runs were pretty exciting. The first run I ran a 9.18 and I could feel the tire spinning as I took off. The second pass was perfect. It didn't feel like anything special, but it was my quickest ET at Sonoma ever. I ran a 9.07@ 149.55 mph. I am happy but now I have to get ready for the real races. That means deep staging and trying to get good reaction times and figure out a real world dial in.

First round eliminations I draw Malcom, this is his first time racing his r6. He did pretty good. He dialed a 12.50 and ran a 12.57 but his reaction time was off (.891). I dialed a 9.28 and ran a 9.35 letting off early with a decent reaction time of .051. On to the second round. Next up I face the new points leader (he took the points lead over me last week in the finals) Doug Love. Doug dials a 12.95 and I dial a 9.28. Doug has a great reaction time of .011 and I am not far behind with a .029 light. Doug is a little off and that's all I needed. He runs a 13.104 and I run a 9.307 and take the win by .1093 of a second. 3rd round I am facing the number one qualifier Tom Myers on his Yamaha fazer. Tom Dials a 13.15 and I dial a 9.28 again. Tom has a .029 light to my .037, but he can't run his dial and slows to a 13.410 and I get the win running a 9.376 as I let off at the end not to break out. Next to the finals. I am racing Travis on his Ducati, I think this is the first time he has made it to the finals. He dials a 11.30 and I dial in at 9.29. Travis has a terrible reaction time of .273 and I have a decent light of .089. Before the shift to 2nd, I see that Travis stumbles and I go right by him. The only thing left is for me not to break out and I get the win. I ended up running a 9.505 and Travis runs a 12.939. Anticlimactic finals but a win is a win. I move back into first place and that was the goal.

Next race is 8-24-22
