2025 / 2026 Investment Thread

At 21:30 today, a spike indeed, per Kitco, up $62.90 at $4,572 per oz, with 16.5 hours to close. Silver up $3.63 at $83.50, Platinum up $89.00 at $2,350.00. Yee bloody ha for me. Percentages are 1.40%, 4.55% and 3.94% respectively. Can anyone quote me a price for 99.99% tantalum (Ta)? I have some to sell and for the life of me, Icannot find a website to get a quote. A local scrap merchant (thieves) scanned with their XRF and told me it was about 60%. First, I have material certifications from the supplier, and second, I had it XRF'ed by someone I trust, at the stated 99.99% purity. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! (Yes, I unashamedly stole that).

I will sit on what I have, FWIW. I think there is a good run ahead for Au and Ag.

Googl still looking pretty healthy. I was considering pulling a little cash out in case things get bumpy in the near term, but dang, the more of it I can let ride the better for future me I think.

Future me will most likely still be working and pissed current me took a few years off, or not 😆

If you had 50k sitting (languishing) in a cd at 4%, and were somewhat risk averse, what would you do with it? Not my problem, but someone I know is in this situation. This person does not know much about investing, like me.

i'd leave it at 4%. if the renewal rate is down near 0% then i would think about it more

You mean a CD that's about to mature? I would put most or all of it in SGOV, which unlike a CD is liquid and is still around 4% now.

That's assuming he's extremely risk-averse, i.e. doesn't want any stocks, long bonds, or precious metals

Oh I think it's gonna drop, all the EU/NATO stock exchanges dropped 1-2%< in response to 🌮 tariffs to the countries that oppose taking over Greenland, hopefully it comes back by end of week
