Max is probably waiting out his payday since all the good seats are taken and some teams would rather not deal with a crybaby.

Christian probably knew his time was not long and its better to exit before the main talent leaves.
 
Last ditch attempt to keep Max? That's the only good reason I can think of for firing Christian.

Also, I now wonder if Christian is one of the top reasons why the car is so shit. His leadership has obviously allowed the car to become like this. But was he pushing things that way? 🤔
 
BTW, Laurent Mekies from VCARB is taking over Christian's position. So there's another "demotion" from the junior team, though I'd bet Mekies got a nice raise.
 
Since Horner was fired, does he have to do the "gardening vacation" thing or would he be free to join another team immediately?
 
I have not seen any info about garden leave.

Maybe Ferrari has found their replacement for Freddie :LOL:
 
I think he'll still be able to gas up his helicopter.

I thought Ferrari also. I also thought maybe Cadillac (I hope not as I do not want to hate Cadillac before they even get a car on the track).
 
The Caddie Team Principal is Graeme Lowdon. He was previously Team Principal for Virgin and Marussia. Horner might be an upgrade. American businesses seem to care even less about SA scandals.

Maybe Christian gets a long with Flavio. That dumpster fire is in need of C-level personnel.
 
Horner may just sink back into civilian life too. I'd thought Caddy as well, given his experience level. While the RB isn't in the points lead, the car is still very competitive (for Max).
 
IMHO saying the Red Bull is competitive is like saying the Honda (MotoGP) was competitive. If only one person (a generational talent) can drive/ride the vehicle to the front, then it is not competitive.

Even Max has been vocal at how undrivable the Red Bull is.
 
Especially when there have been rumors of Max leaving.

I think it came down to Horner or Max and Horner at that point was expendable.

Disagree the RB is comparative to the Honda. Yamaha, maybe, but my point was, the RB (with Max driving) Is still the best of the rest. Your point that only Max can drive it, is valid.

My point was that only one person (a generational talent) can drive/ride the car/bike to the front. If nobody else can make it work, then (again, IMHO) it is not competitive.

Honda (when Marquez came on) was considered one of the best bikes on the grid and had great showings (with just about all the Hondas on the grid). Then they started to develop the bike around Marquez and the bike became un-rideable for just about everybody else. Then it got so bad that even Marquez had problems. To me, that compares to the Red Bull. Both Red Bull cars were very capable of running up front, then they started to develop it around Max. Then only Max can get it to the front and it is un-drivable for everybody else. And now even Max is complaining about the car.

I think we have just a slightly different definition on the word "competitive". I think Max is the one who is "competitive" not the Red Bull. Max can "adjust" to the problems of the car making the car appear competitive. Just like Marquez could ride around the problems of the Honda to make it look competitive.
