One game means a lot in the NFL. There are only 17 games overall and six of those are conference games. It’s not like MLB, NHL, or NBA where the number of games is insane. Seattle won but I think SF is the better team of those two, and AZ should be two wins for the 9ers.That's the story with every team. It's a battle of attrition.
One game doesn't mean much, especially Game 1 in frickin Australia, but it's nice to smack the "super team" In the mouth right out the gate.
In track, we know that athletes are most likely to get injured when they get to a state of over-training, when their recovery can't keep up with the damage they do to their cells from games and practice. There are 2 causes of this: 1. Insufficient pre-season preparation to strengthen the tissues and joints to a level that can withstand higher intensity (speed) forces as they get into a season, 2. Insufficient recovery, both daily and programming in a recovery week every 4-6 weeks during season. But that has been their story for a few years running now. Talent and Coaching didn't seem to be the problem.
As I said, part of the problem is Shanahan doing or not doing something that is causing the problem. If the S & C coaches review the practice schedule and advise and Shanahan ignores the advice then it all on him. If what you say is true, then S & C coaches should find another team or resign. You can have strength and conditioning coaches, but if the practice schedule doesn't facilitate recovery, then you'll continue to have the same time.
I don't think that Shanahan factors in recovery into his practice schedule, he is the common factor and the buck stops with him.
That's the story with every team. It's a battle of attrition.

Yeah, my Guys have an ever worse history of that.In track, we know that athletes are most likely to get injured when they get to a state of over-training, when their recovery can't keep up with the damage they do to their cells from games and practice. Tissues break down when practicing or competing, without a recovery week you go backwards throughout the season until micro tears and micro fractures become macro tears and macro fractions, then one day you're jogging off the field and a knee gives out or something else.
The Niners have a long history of not properly ensuring recovery, that is overwhelmingly clear by their record of injuries over many years.
Well they can count me on their friend list for Monday night foozball against the Rams. That is simply not true. Cleveland will lose to every one else in they playoffs if they are all starting healthy in December and most of the other teams have half their starting guys on RR. Some teams simply do not have a shot in a given season. Their roster+coaching is just too abysmal to create a culture that will allow them to win. Football is not merely a game of plug in player parts and statistics, you need a certain kind of psychology and chemistry in a locker room to make a Champion. Miami and Arizona are in a similar boat.
Now, how about them Giants?
Dart is most assuredly charging full steam ahead into the IR list this season, he seems determined to end his career with the concussion protocol before his Rookie deal is over, but that boy is fun to watch, Pal. Beat up Dallas pretty good today, with a chance to knock the Rams down another peg on Monday night next week.
I figure anyone with a shot to beat Dallas and L.A. in a two week stretch is a friend of the 49ers for two weeks at least.
The Rams will be pissed off on Monday and playing at home. If they take that and thump the Giants, maybe the hype was real. Myles Garrett is a bust now on injured reserve, and they are counting on the Ghost of Aaron Donald to come haunt the field for the first time in like 3 years to save their Defense.
Dart and Nabers are finding their stride, Cam Skattebo is still an unhinged character, the Giants defense hasn't found their stride yet, but seems very high function with a lot of young talent Harbough is still figuring out. We shall see.
being paid like your elite does not make you elite. Just ask Clevland.I thought Dak was elite?
I watched Caleb at USC for a couple years, he carried the team by himself sometimes, winning with just his unwillingness to lose, sometimes.Yeah, my Guys have an ever worse history of that.
Did anyone see that show the Bears put on?
I love their long overdue return to relevance.
LOL So true.being paid like your elite does not make you elite. Just ask Clevland.
I watched Caleb at USC for a couple years, he carried the team by himself sometimes, winning with just his unwillingness to lose, sometimes. He's going to be a great quarterback in the NFL.
