8 reasons to buy this type of motorcycle

Electric vehicles were mass produced in the United States in the earily 1900s. They were replaced with ICEs in a free and open market, because the Ford ICE was cheaper and superior transportation. Big oil doesn't have to do anything but provide gasoline. They aren't slamming electric vehicles. They don't have to do that. Everyone doesn't want to wait eight hours to get away from the fire in their back yard. Or sit on the side of the road for an hour to get to grandma's house. Internal combustion engines superseded electric vehicles over a hundred years ago. So who is the Luddite, exactly?

That doesn't make sense. Lithium batteries were only invented in the 1970s.

Ok enough of this we are beating a :deadhorse
lets let this thread die and go into the backpages of teh barfs.

And Lithium Polymer batteries (as in my 2020 Energica) were invented around 20 years after Lithium Ion. Lighter and can charge at a higher rate.

That's why the Harley LW can only charge at 12KW and the Energica at 25KW, yet the LW has a slightly larger battery than the Energica.

Surprised no one is mentioning any other more subjective qualities. Also, I don't have a place to park. So, no place to charge. Dead stop for me.

No sound, no rumble, no anything. I get that not everyone is into the other properties that an ICE has but I dig it at times.

Zeros are a lot cheaper. The price on the smaller Zeros is reasonable and are great get around town bikes. I find my 2017 Zero DS ZF 6.5 takes the place of my cars more so than another bike.

See here
for the many different models and prices. Cheaper used, of course.

Zero still doesn't have enough range to get me to and from work and there is nowhere to charge at work. 120 mile commute, almost all highway, while running heated gear and a rocking a windscreen that would destroy EV range. The bike I'm using now was $4k used with low mileage and gets a reliable 60mpg. It's going to be a long time before an EV can get that kind of range at that price. If one existed, I'd buy it. I hate dealing with gas every other day and the maintenance required with these miles is annoying.

The windscreens increase the freeway range on the electric bikes. Every person who has added the Zero windscreen in the electric motorcycle forum has noticed the better freeway range with the windscreen, including myself. The 2018 and later Zero SR with power tank has a range of 223 miles at slower speeds (45 MPh) and about half that range (112 miles) at normal freeway speeds. A good 10% better with the wind screen. However, when it's cold you can lose more than than 10%. Cold weathe is really bad for range on these bikes.

I'm almost positive everyone here has already said this same thing with fewer words. :laughing :twofinger
They're close but not worth the money yet due to their limitations.
I would not want an electric for my only motorcycle. But they are great additions to an ICE bike and most people will find every year they put more miles on the electric than the ICE. Use the ICE-cycle where you have those limits.

IMO, they are already worth what we must pay for them, but not if it will be your only bike.

They need to make an electric Grom

Yeah but one that's quick, that can do freeway speeds easily. That would be dope. I'd get it for sure.

I know Lightning has the Spark project, but that's probably vaporware, and Zero actually crammed their drivetrain into a Grom for some lulz too.

Cops don't look up from their phone because they know you're not a punk and cars pull over in the twisties because they think you're a peninsula cop and don't know how long you've been behind them.
