According to U.S. Census report, Lopez is most common last name in California.

As I said above, interesting observation.
Why do I have to have an unstated opinion?

Just wondering why you chose to post it. Interesting is fair enough, although this didn't seem that surprising to me.

I stand corrected, I read it down several paragraphs in and misinterpreted what they were saying. Thanks for the correction.

recently you expressed concern over latino voting numbers and their ability to vote

It's the De Facto national language.
Yes, we do need one, otherwise we run up costs and in the case of Southwestern US we risk state constitutional amendments making Spanish the state language if/when the Mexican population becomes the majority population in a state.
Remember, it only takes a simple majority to change the state constitution.

No.
I was making a point that things can change, you can't assume anything.

Don't try to read things into my posts that I didn't put there, you're trying to first make me out to be a simpleton then use that mode to twist my posts into something they aren't.

Kevin knows that I have half asian daughters and a half black son.
One of my best friends is from Columbia, another is from Hong Kong and still another is from Greece and I've dated women from plenty of nationalities.
Somebody would have a very difficult time trying to accuse me of being racist.

If you were really not racist, you'd have a Mexican kid to round things out.
:twofinger:laughing

there are no native americans.

a ten thousand year history within the amercias with a distinctive ethnic, cultrual, and language evoltion within the the continent makes them "native" in a very real way

I could not have said it better.

I normally toss out - "If your ancestors did not walk to N. America from Asia – and you live here - then you are from an immigrant family".

God had not even created the world 10,000 years ago.

It is racist that you don't think you're racist.

Report: Each state's most distinctive last name
While the U.S. Census reports that the most common last names in the country are Smith, Johnson, Williams, Brown, and Jones, lifestyle site Mental Floss dug deeper.

Using data from Social Security Administration, the site found which last name is most distinctive to each state, meaning you are more likely to find people with a particular last name in that state in that state than in any other.
This is not a surprise.

The next question is whether it is the most common last name in Mexico.
The answer is no, but near the top:
Last name Incidence amount
1. Hernandez 2,534,379
2.Garcia 2,416,128
3.Lopez 2,151,072

The most common surnames in California according to ancestry.com:
Garcia
Hernandez
Lopez

So although you misunderstood what they had done, your intuition was probably right.
