Hey Guys,

I am starting to look at Rallies for next year and wonder if there are some specific spots you guys might know that include access to good ADV fun, but still offer appeals to road only folks. FYI: Rallies do include motels vs camping, but that does not mean you cannot camp. The heat took a toll this year so weather is going to be a consideration with the destinations. We also tend to like Bars so having one or more available for night time shenanigans is a bonus!

Here is the list of spots so far. The first two are locked in as always.
Weaverville
Hawthorne, NV

Kernville
Parkfield
Fortuna
Eureka
Taft
Jackson
Quincy
Pioneer
Sonora
Chester
Morro Bay

EDIT TO ADD Suggestions from this thread.
Ridgecrest
Topaz Lake
Oakhurst
Downieville
Mariposa
Sierra City

Hoping we can get some more ADV presence next year by considering the good stuff.
Also if you see something that lights your candles what time of year would you suggest?

Thanks in advance. :ride

Ridgecrest
Bishop/Lone Pine
Tehachapi
Topaz Lake/Bridgeport

be fun to try to appeal to the Dirty BARFing crew, too …?

so maybe places near OHV areas?:

Hollister
Kelseyville/Lakeport
Ridgecrest

places near racetracks/OHV/ADV?

Willows/Red Bluff

fun to think about! :ride

Cedarville? Truckee? You've got Quincy listed--that's a great area too...what about Oakhurst? That puts you in striking distance of Shaver Lake/Kaiser Pass/Yosemite/Beasore/Sierra Vista/Mammoth Pool, etc.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input.
Some I am familiar with some not.

Motels etc to be researched. ;)

Downieville proper can be kinda spendy I think, but plenty of options in that general area Portola, Graegle, Lake Davis etc. And of course that is all pretty near Quincy too.

Spendy is a concern for sure. We try hard to make the rallies as affordable as possible.
Morro Bay is the big ticket one that we still consider. Paso Robles was fun but them wino's have driven the Motel 6 up above $150 at this point.

River Pines resort might be a good option prices are crazy now because it is getting into fall colors and pumpkin spice season, but it looks like rooms could be had for around 100ish with some advance planning.

I looked at that before. Pretty worthy. No bar close though so that leans me towards Quincy because I like a good bar. :laughing

Fair, though we have been known to just party in the parking lot, which a place like that would accommodate more comfortably

That is always an option. I do my fair share of parking lot partying. :p

For the best dirt and paved roads in California, it is hard to beat Downieville. Good riding in all directions from there if you have an adventure bike..

Oakhurst is similar to the south. Both are on highway 49, just at different ends. (Oakhurst is just up the road from Mariposa).

I know it's pretty close but South Lake Tahoe checks all the boxes. Especially in the shoulder seasons.. Specifically Basecamp South.

Nothing wrong with being close, it’s farther than a day ride for most. Same goes for Lakeport.
