ADV spots with great access to good roads -- Looking for input.

Truckee being seriously considered. ;)
Is August a good time frame?? I know it wil be hot in places getting there, but taking advantage of the ADV riding is part of the goal and the hotness is not a day long thing since it is closer to teh BA.

Also if there are other events or giant town stuff to be aware of that would help narrow a date down too. :ride

I think the biggest variable with Truckee in August is fires. But then again, that exists everywhere else too.

Sierras in the fall are always nice, or spring if we can get in just around when all the roads have been plowed / opened.

Agreed.

August would have passes open for sure. The fall is great, but we have our traditional Rydther in early September and I like to have at least a month in between.

I certainly get plenty of fall Sierra passes in with the Hawthorne rally ... think I did four this year. :ride

How do folks feel about Garberville? Bars, motels, restaurants, dirt to the coast asphalt to the coast...

Suppose I should look into Garberville. Thanks!

I would love Garberville. Doing a Mattole Road day loop or hitting up Mattole Campground before or after a rally.

*chef's kiss*

I wonder if I can escape the Bay and do a bit of recon wrt Motels etc. The regular hotel sites don't really list anything.

I usually stay in the Best Western Humbolt House. They let me plug in by the vending machines :) Easy walk to food and drink. Not a million dollars ($140.00ish)

Truckee is definitely more busy in the summer, but once bay area schools fire up, town becomes much more tolerable.
Sept/Oct is the sweet spot, but I get wanting spacing between Rallys. August can also be HOT (and smokey as mentioned ) but I am a wimp these days so 80-90 is likely cool riding weather to central valley folks lol.
Other events?
I think street vibrations is this weekend in Reno as there are 100 bagger riding pirate clones looking tough and making noise all over town and the GSR parking lot looked like a giant HD dealer last night from the freeway...
Reno has hot August nights car shows/cruise every weekend in August also.

I remember Phillipsville, south end, was a log bar/restaurant, with riverfront cabins, that the Fryied Bros. held their annual summer party one year. I have eaten there, American/Mex.
Something like River Lodge, River Pines Lodge,
It didn't show up on Google maps yesterday, my Fu is old and weak like my info, , ,

Donner/Truckee in Oct, count on a storm or two for the month, I do get the same in Vacaville, when I visit. Oct. has always been the best for weather.

Lodging, either cheap, or adventurous in endeavors, hard to find balance, , ,

update
Been thinking about the Truckee rally, my last was Hwy 40 Days.
I think THMBWBIC, should call an audible for next month, , ,
A weekend in Tahoe should be an easy last minute swing for Oct.

So locally, (to me at least) there's Loma Prieta, Summit Rd, Mt Madonna, Ormsby Cut-off, and Buzzards Lagoon.

Then if you head further south, there's La Gloria Rd, and Willow Creek Rd.

A couple good out and backs are to Tassajara Hot Springs and maybe Indians Rd. (It was a bit sketchy on my Multi.)

West of that is the Coast Rd and the S. Coast Ridge Rd.

Some of these places are like rabbit holes, many aren't always open, and they're subject to inclement weather and weird people which often change conditions.

And there's some stuff even closer to home but it's all secret.

We locked in Truckee as a destination. We also went with Jackson, which I think has some good stuff near it as well.

Rally's in 2025

Hope to see some ADV folks join us next year! :ride
