I guess you can call this a rant but more so a forewarning for those of you looking for help from AF1. I recently bought the KTM sprag clutch as an alternative to the factory sprag which cost 4x more. The ktm design was a bit different than the Aprilia and was seeking help from AF1 for clarification. The answer that I received was very incorrect and wasn't even relevant. The kicker was when I called AF1 for help they told me I had to email them so they can do research on what I was asking to provide a correct answer. Not saying that they don't know what they are doing but seems like someone over there got lazy and provided me a pretty bullshit answer. In the end, I understand people make mistakes but just a heads up for other ape owners.

Wow that's surprising. I've used them for countless stuff for the Tuono and they've been great. Also very helpful on the ape forum. Maybe you got a bad seed?

Definitely a possibility. Shit does happen.

Definitely a possibility. Shit does happen. Yeah I was on the ape forum but couldnt get a clear answer there either.

Plus one on good customer service - hopefully yours was an isolated instance that gets corrected soon. I dont like seeing good businesses lose out

So you bought a KTM part from someone, wanted AF1 (who doesn't appear to sell anything KTM-related) to help you figure out how to make it work on your Aprilia, and you're disappointed they didn't have the answer? Man! That is just so... completely expected?

Man... Sorry to hear about your negative experience. I've dealt with AF1 since 2001 with my Aprilias and still today with my Guzzi - never had I experienced bad service.

thats not correct

AF1 sells said KTM part as a cost effective replacement, but their instructions on how to install it lack intuitive directions. LOL

AF1 is a performance Aprilla shop. OP has an Aprilla he is looking at aftermarket modifying. It just so happens the aftermarket is a KTM. This shouldn't be out of ordinary for AF1, I go to the experts because I believe them to be expert.

and then there is this :laughing

I was the offending party at AF1 Racing.

I was going from memory and the reference photo I looked at led me down the wrong path. I apologize for providing bad information, that certainly wasn’t my intention.

I updated our online ad for the part so that hopefully future customers will not be similarly misguided.

Best regards all,

Steve Barone

AF1 delivers via Barf.

Bravo AF1

Major props for the correction and to do it on this very large forum.
The OP should be more than pleased.
I know I am and I too am an Aprilia owner.:teeth

Steve, thank you for chiming in! Hopfully the OP is satisfied with the explanation.

FWIW, I have used AF1 for years (2 generations of Tuono) and have always found them to be super knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you for continuing to be the best resource for all things Aprilia.

Steve - thanks for reaffirming our opinion of AF1 - fantastic customer service. Good on ya brother.

Nothing but good experiences with AF1.

I've yet to meet anyone anywhere (italy included) who is not only more knowledgeable, but also patient, helpful and talented at explaining stuff about Apes and Vespas than Micah at AF1.

Just my $0.02.

Yeah I have to AF1 is pretty awesome. I have to say my experience thus far has been nothing but top notch.

To add another dot in the sand... I've been using AF1 for Aprilia parts (SXV and RXV) for about two years now and have always received very good customer service when ordering parts.

The one time I had a technical question regarding a very race specific mapping issue with my SXV they were completely stumped. Eventually I was able to contact Amauri Nunes who knew exactly what my SXV issue was. So there are experts, and then there are experts.

I'll continue to use AF1 for parts. They have been very helpful in that area.

My $0.02
