Driving back from Sac today, the truck started chugging and then quit on I-80 east. I had let my AAA membership lapse and called to renew and get a tow. After being on hold for like twenty damned minutes, they told me I'd have to wait 48hrs before they'd give a tow after renewing, no thanks. Next I called the tow place in the foothills to see what it would cost paying cash and they said $140 hookup plus $10/mi and I was 31mi out, which would have been a $450 tow. Yeah, I'll pass on that one. Theeeeeeen I remembered my AMA membership comes with roadside assistance and I was speaking to a human within fifteen seconds and the tow truck was there 25min later. Under the 35mi limit and didn't cost a penny, plus they even called back to make sure the tow company took care of me. I ❤ AMA.
