American Yellow Lab Breeders

Agreed. I could care less about what has been said about their health problems. All the yellow labs I've seen and have experiences with are the best and I'm looking for one for my family. Their demeanor and loyalty has got me sold.

Go to http://www.infodog.com and search for a local dog show. You can meet different breeders and see their dogs. It's best to talk to them when they're finished showing but they'll be more than happy to talk to you. There's a big four day show at the Vallejo fairgrounds next weekend.

Who freaking asked about your opinion on Labs?

The same can be said about all other breeds. It's the luck of the draw. I was lucky enough to have my boy for 15 years and now there's a fucking hole in my heart, then you come in here talking shit about Labs? I couldn't give a fuck about being papered, where'd you fucking get that? I got my boy from a backyard breeder and he turned out more than perfect for me so excuse the fuck out of me if I'm troubling the people around here to give me some ideas on where to get my next pup. Yes, it's probably going to be another weak ass yellow lab per your insightful opinion.

It's a free fucking country and you can post what you want where you want but it doesn't mean you should. Now you've managed to make this thread about you.

Common Courtesy and respect, you should buy a book about it and read it.

Now now, settle down Francis. I didn't come in here talking shit, and saying "labs a a weak breed." I also dodn't turn any thread into anything. You are the one who got all hot and bothered. I stated a fact, that's known, which is why I stay away from Lab breeds all together. They are great dogs. Affectionate, mostly good with kids, have a decent bark to ward of intruders, etc. They are a very popular dog breed. And because of that, if you a re lucky enough to get a good one(which it sounds like you were, congrats for getting 15 years out of your pup, that's a damn good dog), well, you were very lucky. And the problem lies in all breeds. Papered or not, the chances of them being from the same geene pool are HUGE with how pouplar Labs are. So, it's a crap shoot. I wasn't being disrespectful, at all. Sorry if I offended you for stating a known fact. It wasn't my intention. But I don't have the deep pockets that can be required for better than 50% of labs out there. If you do, go for it man.

Here is some reading. Most of it is short, so it won't take long. And it doesn't single out Labs.

BTW, this is my dog Samantha at the local dog park. Most people are shocked when they see a GSD that doesn't want to kill every other dog there is, but she is very very friendly. She is a rescue. And, I got her as a puppy at about 20 weeks old IIRC. The total cost involved in all of her vet bills, and the "donation" to the rescue this far (3 years old) has been under $300.

Msethhunter nothing you have said has been at all helpful for Jmack. Granted like he said you can say what you want. But you basically came in here putting down the breed that Jmack obviously has a soft spot for. All your jibber jabber means diddly squat.

Now if you know of any breeders to point Jmack to please do so. Otherwise no one really cares what you have to say about labs. This wasn't the place to voice that kind of opinion.

I don't know any Lab breeders that I would recomend. Read my initial post. But, I did post up some valuable links to read that will help the OP do some background on the breeder he might select.

Thanks guys!!!

Yeah definitely still hurting but it's getting better.

For consideration, there's no disgrace in getting another dog as soon as you can find one. There is a lot to be said for having an outlet for your affections. Losing a good dog is terribly hard. A young dog with its life ahead of it has a way of making the transition easier.

You don't know when to fucking shut up.

15 years is a pretty long lifespan for any large breed (Considerably longer than the average for a GSD FWIW). Take that into consideration before your next post.

What. The. Fuck. What is so offensive about not knowning any fucking breeders! You guys are all bitching like little fucking girls. A guy comes.in, basically says he's afraid of a breed because of known health issues, that he himself has dealt with. Offers his opinion , is not offensive about it, but because it's a god damn moderator, he's stepping on "hallowed ground!" Show me one post where I blasted someone in this thread. Just one. I've lost dogs to. It sucks. They are like part of the family. I know, I've lost them to. But Jesus christ, relax.

Like I said, show me one post where I said "You're an idiot, don't get a lab!"

Check my op. I specifically said "YMMV." Your Mileage May Vary. Some get lucky, some don't. I would only hop the op gets an awesome dog again.

Wow. Ok.

By all means indulge us all in your wisdom. Everyone should marvel at your awesomeness. You ever wrong? I highly doubt it.

You probably feel that youre sorrounded by idiots all the time huh? Dont mind that spinning sound, its just the rest of the universe revolving around you.

We rescued a dog a couple of weeks ago. There are a lot of breed specific rescues orgs. Those places are pretty sad (there were probably over 100 German Shepherds where we went), but its a problem that has to be taken care of (unwanted/discarded dogs). Good luck with your search. I waited a couple weeks after my dog died, and I couldn't come up with any reason to not give a good home to another dog, so I did. (Basically, I talked myself into it!!!)

Good luck with your search.

I am so sorry to hear about your recent loss.
I'm certain that you will continue to be the best dog owner ever! Good luck on your search Jonathan.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and the ideas guys. Looking at labrescue right now. Looking st arf too.

I'm pretty sure that 5 or 6 chihuahuas would equal 1 lab, you know, if you can't find a lab :dunno

:twofinger

I feel ya, Jmack, I'm partial to the bird hunting dogs myself

I called the guy who I got my lab from last night but, they don't have any litters coming soon. Shame because he's got the sweetest disposition.

Thanks for checking Westie!

Also, msethhunter and I squashed any weird feeings via PM. He's quite a stand up dude, I must say. We're good. :thumbup

Sorry for your loss, know the feeling all too well. But if I may offer my perspective, respectfully.
Due to personal events in my life long ago I've spent 4 to 6 days a week for the last 19 years volunteering at my local dog pound (SLO county shelter). May I sincerely suggest that you take a couple of hours at your local shelter/pound and spend some time with 5 or 6 dogs of any breed or mix and see if one of them wins your affections. I get people in the shelter all the time commenting on what great dogs this or that breed is. I remind them that all dogs are great dogs. Personally I've had everything from Chihuahuas to wolf-hybrids and they have all been wonderful companions in my life.

BTW, there's no difference in yellow/white/chocolate/black Labs other than color. They (along with every other dog) are individual beings. Just like people. Lots of people feel comfortable with Labs, I get that, and they come into the shelter asking if we have any. I may comment that some Labs are very easy-going and mellow, and some are hyper-active ball-crazy go-go-go types. Some do great with other dogs, some are very aggressive and territorial. So what's a Lab like? And this applies to any breed, not singling out Labs. Just saying leave your options open.
