Another Bad Quarter for Harley Davidson

Sprotbiles and adventure bikes sell in small numbers compared to V2 cruiserbikes and such. HD doesn't sell sportbikes cuz they aren't stupid. KTM, Ducati, etc. are tiny compared to HD. Honda are huge because they sell a billion tiddler bikes overseas as well as cars and engines and such. Kawasaki could fold their motorbike business and their stock price would probably actually go up.

For companies that ONLY sell motorcycles, particularly not-tiddler bikes, HD is big. They don't jump into the sprotbile business (again) because it's a terrible business decision.

Yeah Honda is an absolute beast. I THINK they are the largest car manufacturer in the world, and they're a front runner I'm robotics.

I had heard somewhere that 600cc sportbike sales took like a 90% hit in the recession. Sounds like a made uplease stat but I'd like to know how harley did. Everyone took a hit, I'm just curious if being in that niche kinda insulated them at all.

Bingo. Not even close to the largest auto mfg. Toyota, GM, VW are top three and any of 'em could likely scoop up Honda if they so desired.

That said, Honda shits out more engines than anybody, tho most are small.

The conglomerates of Renault-Nissan and Fiat are probably bigger than Honda too I bet.

But yeah, Honda manufactures so many engines annually it's ridiculous. I'm going to the Anna, OH engine plant next week which pumps out about 1.1M assorted automobile engines a year.
