Another car/SUV thread - Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Dodge Durango

Bro your in walnut creek land of big roads and million dollar tiny condos to plantation style homes

Tell me you bring your duallie to the city vs a car or even a compact truck, cuz youll be circling forever

Brah did you miss the part where I said downtown? Obviously you're not familiar

It's some CA BS.

Trucks are commercial, because of the extra 'wear and tear' on the roads.

Of course, you can have a n SUV with much higher gross weight, and they don't pay the commercial premium.

It's basically been a CA scam for years and years.
Yeah, the "commercial" thing for pickups is bs.a $70-80 "weight fee" for slightly heavier trucks.

My 97 F150 is about $102 to reg but my 73 dodge w-100 short bed day cab is close to $160 or 170.
Extra is from the $80 weight fee. The w-100 is only 5300 lbs or so.

Short wheelbase rocks. Good steering and can stll haul tons of shit.

My 2002 Durango has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. I've had it since new and it has 141,000 on it and has never left me stranded. Aside from normal maintenance it's only needed a new rear end. That only cost me $300 from a salvage yard.

I also have a 1990 Chevy 2500 extended cab long bed, it's not hard to park.

My '91 Nissan pickup is still about $100 (registered as a truck).

Though it is nice to be able to park on Polk Street... ;)

I think there's a bullshit minimum or something. My 20-year old moto and '01 Accord both cost $100 every year.

And one benefit of paying the commercial registration on a personal truck: you get to use the yellow parking zones in the City. :teeth

Someone mentioned that to me when I moved to California and had to register my (3690 lb) Tacoma as a commercial vehicle. I don't think I ever took advantage of it since I went everywhere by motorcycle.

Interesting. Didn't think they had this but it was on the window of a Durango on the lot. I didn't take it for a test drive and the window sticker had been taken off since it was sold already but...yeah.
