Any updates on Joy Higa's and Brant Wiwi's condition from race crashes?

I am really happy to hear everyone will be ok. Weird weekend as far as crashes went.

Feel better Joy and Brant. :thumbup

Motorcycles are damn dangerous!

when your throttle sticks.... why not just grab the clutch or hit the killswitch or ANYTHING but fly off the track at a billion mph?

post up the pics, i want to see what happened, everything happened so fast... :(

+1! i literally had JUST left the grid to go to t10 not 45 seconds before the carnage. :(

Because there were other riders in front of him in or about to be in that turn.

It's so easy to sit and suggest simple solutions but when you're out there going triple digits and waiting to hit your brake marker and then realize your throttle is stuck or if your brakes aren't working thinking such simple solutions ain't so easy when you have but seconds to react/avoid crashing/running off/avoid running into other racers, wall, ditch/etc.

Sheesh!

all the more reason to pull in the clutch and get on the binders? *scratches head* i've never had the throttle stick open on me before, so i might be totally out of bounds...

i HAVE had a complete loss of front brakes before...there was about a 1 second delay in thought process before realizing and taking action... 1 second is a LOOOONG time at ~140+ mph, i get that... i'm just sayin... aren't there things one can do to minimize carnage?

the corner workers in 10 said he went off at FULL boogie with no attempt to slow down. i bet that shit was freggin SCARY!

I had my master cylinder fail coming into T10, lever to the glove 4 pumps with no slow down in sight, I locked the rear tire as soon as I was off track and in the dirt, and looked at that damn tire wall of doom square in the eye for the second longest 3 seconds of my life before I noticed the 6 foot opening to the left of the tire wall and some how managed to kick out the rear and turn into that gap and onto the skid pad.

Had my throttle been stuck I'm pretty sure I woulda dumped it or just given up hope and b-lined into the tires like a goon.

Hopefully all yall heal up fast!

I'm pushing Wiwi to sue Toyota in that class action suit.

This is me in the white leathers under someone else's Ducati. This is still while I and the bike were moving...

It's all speculation until Wiwi pipes up with the real deal (assuming he remembers it vividly enough). However, I was behind him coming down 9, and watched him pull off the right side of the track right around the gas/brake transition point. If his throttle moved and blocked the brakes as previously mentioned, doing what he did was the best option for the safety of everyone in front of him.

that sucks... i'm of the perspective: bodies heal themselves....bikes don't. :twofinger

glad it's not bad, dude. :thumbup

Saw Joy last night at Granzilla's, she was in good spirits. Speculation on whether her arm is broken or not, getting a second opinion. That woman is my hero!! Glad everyone is OK, watching that race start from the announcer's booth was horrifying.

Every situation is different, but my guess is no time and your first instinct is to try and fix the problem, somehow. This happened to me going into the Carousel a few years ago and it was not fun..luckly, I made the decision to hit the eject button....

Hope Brant and Joy heal up quick!

Joy -- I'm so glad to hear you're doing better! You were understandably dazed when I got to you. You are one very tough lady! If you need any thing, please let me know!

Cheers!

Jeez, it's hard reading all the crash stories when I couldn't be there, and harder after whining about simple mechanical putting me out for the weekend with NO crash.

A lot of good people got hurt, and all I can do is hope that none of the injuries are serious and they come back stronger and faster. Get well soon!!

Tom was telling us about this... ugh. Hands on the tank and push, right?

Good luck and speedy recovery to everyone.
