I never tried it, don't know anything about it. Thing is I only get 4 to 5 hours sleep per night weekdays and Internet points to yoga having some benefit to helping with sleep issues. I'd try that before popping any pills.

But wouldn't know where to start although lululemons might do wonders for making my ass look good, or maybe not.

Anyhow not likely to ever attend a class but might give it a whirl with the lights out in my living room.

Better than a swig of whiskey, ya or nay?

I have nothing but great things to say about hot yoga, from a physical standpoint. made a hiuge difference in my knee and the issues it has

For a beginner:
-how much time per session?
-how many times per week?
-just follow any beginner guide?

You should really start with a beginner yoga class. Doing shit wrong is not good for you, and can be bad for you.

It will definitely help you sleep, but then, so will jogging for half an hour.

I'm a terrible runner but I cycle a couple of hours on Saturdays and Sundays and try to ride spin bike one day during week plus light weight lifting 3 or 4 nights per week. None of this helping much with getting sleep.

Don't workout at night, for starters. Keep computer out of the room, and keep cell phone away from bedside......the whole point being to signal your brain that when the lights are out, it's time to sleep.

Cardio is better for sleep and metabolism regulation.
Yoga is phenomenal for mood, flexibility, injury prevention/reduction, and works neglected muscle groups and systems.

I'd guess that yoga an hour before bed, followed by a shower will put you to sleep, especially if you're doing cardio as well.

None, was never a coffee drinker. Pretty much only drink water or juice.

Not much choice, I work 10 - 11 hours per day. Get home at 6-6:30 eat and chill for a bit, then its 8 or 9pm before starting anything

My take on it is that your workouts are just too late; you'll be all revved up when you need to sleep. Can you shift the workout to first thing in the morning? I know, it can be tough...

Blankpage I am sorry that you are suffering from lack of sleep. It can wreck you and we have all been there at some point in ours lives. If you are truly interested in yoga it may benefit you to join a meetup.com group or maybe even a facebook group to first find out what kind of yoga you want to do. After you figure that out go and find a place close to you and give it a whirl. Most places will let you take 1 - 3 classes for free. Yoga is very hard at first because your body isn't used to stretching and holding positions over a long time. You will shake and sweat a lot but stick with it and in about 1 - 2 weeks your body will adjust to the move but almost immediately your body will thank you.

Try this! First start out with 3 Sun Salutation sets. Go slow for the first one and hold each position for 10 - 20 seconds. Once you have completed your first set then hold each position for 2 - 3 seconds. It's a wonderful full body stretch and it will calm you.

This woman talks to much but it gets the point across with the finer points.

PM me if you want to know more. I do yoga once a week but I am no expert. All I can do is share my journey with you.

Just don't walk into any Yoga class with one of these, you risk being mugged:

Will try the sun salutation.

The mere fact that she's talking through all of the poses is great. Myself, I'd be out of breath in the first sentence. :laughing

PM snapper I believe that she is a certified Yoga instructor in your area.

It's awesome stuff that will change many aspects about how you live and perceive your life.

Not a yoga person, though I should be.

I used to have terrible insomnia. Cured it with probiotics, specifically Dr. Ohhira's professional formula. I've tried just about every other major probiotic product and this was the only one that impacted my sleeplessness. Other formulas did all sorts of other good things for me, but none helped me sleep. YMMV, of course.

Besides the obvious health benefits...
Girls in yoga pants FTW.
