Anyone swear by Costco gas?

FWIW, of the fuel's I've tried, the only ones that keep detonation under control in my Old's 425 high-compression Super Rocket are Chevron, Union 76 & Safeway premium. Other fuel's always seem to produce some noticeable ping on hot days. I only fill the Old's once a month, or so... so sometimes I get $1.00/Gal discount! :cool

I imagine most riders dont want to wait in the usual line for the 3 gallons of gas they need to buy---not worth saving 40cents for 5 extra mins?

I swear by Costco with my truck and other vehicles, but the few times I've filled up my bike this was exactly my thought. The price difference and cash back percent of 6% didn't seem worth waiting in line. Redwood City Costco is always busy.

I can't even imagine what you could do to gasoline to make that possible.
Any ingredient they could add to thin it out would likely cost more than the gas itself.

:wow Was this mpg before or after you did all the drifting in the Costco parking lot?

I fuel up my cars/bikes wherever (usually Chevron as it's most convenient) but I've never ran into any fuel related issues.

If Costco gas would really lead to a 8mpg drop (assuming that's even possible!), you'd hear about it by now.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can't explain how or why that is but my car just does not like it. I've run 5-6 tankfuls, then switched to something else for 5-6 tankfuls, then back just to see if the first round was an aberration so while it's not a professional Mythbusters-style controlled testing environment I like to think I gave it a fair chance.

You'd have to be a miserly MF to think the savings you'd get from a 3-4 gallon Costco fillup is worth waiting in line for. So no point to go specifically for gas. And I don't think anyone's gonna go on a shopping trip to Costco on their bike. Can you buy anything there that you can fit on your bike?

Then again, I heard that some punks I knew liked to go there for the cheap pizza. Seems like a long way to go for garbage.

It's totally not worth it to wait in line for 3-4 gallons. That's why I go at 9PM when there's no line. Just drive right up to the pump and fill up 20 gallons in gas cans and 15-21 gallons in my truck.

I've done pretty decent Costco trips in these two as well...

You've done Costco trips INSIDE your dogs?? :wow

I'd ask how you remained street beagle, but that's another question... :teeth

:rofl

Yep. All the pictures of it are on my old phone, but I've done week long grocery runs for the wife and I from costco. Ok, I cheat, I have saddle bags but its not hard.

Meats go in the saddle bags as does anything "firm" - bag of coffee, milk, coffee creamer, apples, onions, cans, jars of any type.
Soft stuff like bread goes in the backpack. If I have a bulky item like toilet paper or paper towels, well, I'm not buying that costco size, .
but I'll get a "reasonable" size at the grocery or Target and it just goes on the rear seat with straps.

I've also done a case of 22oz from my favorite breweries. Those get bungee'd
on to the seat.

I did find a few images

I have never once had a gas related issue using any fuel.

Only time it happened was when I filled up one of my old bikes. I filled it up and parked it, and it wouldn't turn on after that. Cranked it till the battery died, then hooked it up to the battery charger and kept cranking. It finally caught and idled like absolute shit.

That was a crappy couple of days till all the gas burned off. Replaced with a fresh tank of gas and it was all good. I just don't remember where I got that bad tank from, though.

I filled up my two 5 gallon fuel bottles at my local 76 station one day last year and promptly contaminated 3 of my bikes as soon as I got home.
I've only had one *bad fuel* event, but it was to the power of 3. :mad

I swear by Costco gas , especially yesterday when I was stuck in a massive traffic jam while taking my 93 year old dad to Bed Bath & Beyond in San Jose, the gas station there off of Blossom Whatever it is.

It took nearly 40 minutes just to go 100 feet in that fuckinggoddammotherfuckingpieceofshitmessofcars. I'm still swearing, too.

I think you may have meant to use "swear at" rather than "swear by", but that's just my opinion, man... :cool

:laughing

Since the Costco gas stations open one hour before the stores open and stay open another hour after the stores close, then.... maybe bad planning? :teeth

I was; I was right "By" Costco, in that motherfuckinggoddamfuckingshit traffic.
So I was "Swearing by Costco Gas"...:)

We weren't going to the gas station, just trying to get past it....and I am not sure if my wife's car even uses gas, I've never put any in it and it just keeps running....
