Anyone wear dog-tags while riding?

I still have my old army tags somewhere, but is that info enough?

Besides blood group, how about next of kin and any medical allergies in a keyfob, that way they ain't round yer neck.

Or maybe attached to the zip of your jacket, so if u and your bike part company, the info is with you.

Personally, I have a sheet of paper w/ all my info in a ziplock bag in the trunks of both of my bikes but I've always thought I could do better.

Well it's a nice thought to have the info in the trunks of your bikes BUT there's a flaw with that line of thought.

Neither motorcycle is going with you in the ambulance to hospital. Assuming the worst case scenario, that information is only good if it's with you (i.e. around your neck or in your wallet) while you're unconscious.

Anyone receive the tags from AMA? How long did it take to arrive?

I think attached to the zip on your jacket or somewhere equally obvious is a good idea. It would save people having to search you for any info.

Anyone know a place here in the south bay that make makes the Dog Tags? I would first like to see the item before I pay the $$.

Why is this post still at the top of the forum???
I am tired of seeing it there every time I go to the General forum. lol
No offense to anyone who posted here or the one who started this thread.

Cause it's pinned. It's always going to stay the top. So that if anyone that's new to the board like me can read it and get some valuable information.

Try:

Mountain View Surplus
2045 S. Bascom Ave
Campbell, CA 95008
(408) 377-1362

If they don't make the tags there they should be able to order it for you.

Can I just wear my dogs' tags?

I picture you getting dog medicine. After you crash...

Man, that reminds me of that seinfeld eps where kramer has the same cough as a dog and starts taking dog medicine. Then towards the end of the episode he is running around town acting like a dog.

:laughing :laughing :laughing

Yup, though hopefully I won't crash, Yikes!

Well, I've been known to eat dog kibble... and eat popcorn and cheese puffs with the dogs... and eat burger joint tacos and burrito supremes.

And yes. It does make a little more sense to carry the wallet in the jacket.

Also, just because you have a donor sticker on your M1 doesn't mean that you are surrendering you stuff, if you are married your spouse has the final say so, as well as being under 18, your parents have the same right, make sure you make it clear what you want, sharing is caring. Just FYI

I have a set of dog tags and the following information is what I have on mine. ( 6 lines, 16 characters per line. I left one line blank. )

sean wally
ph.408-978-7183
no drug alergies
emergency num#
ph.719-260-1518

Has my name, my phone number, and the phone number of a relative to contact in an emergency as well a statement of no drug alergies incase I can't talk. I'd ordered one of the tags cycle gear tags at one point but I never got, neiter did my friends who ordered one at the same time.

In my wallet, of course, I also carry my medical insurance card, another copy of my emergency contacts, my insurance and my registration.

UPDATE*
Man. I signed up for that free one, from the cycle website. They didnt send me shit, its been a long time now. I bet they sold my info to some junk mail firms. Dammit.

Cell phones are good, but they don't seem to work where riders like to ride the most. In fact the range of these things is almost rediculous. That's why I mention a satellite cell phone. They are supposed to work almost anywhere.

Life and disability insurance are good options also, but I don't like to bet against myself.

That's why I carry a ham radio. Will work just about anywhere within sight+ of the big three mountains around here: Diablo, Hamilton, Tamalpias...

Works & a wonderful hobby for millions around the world... :teeth

As far as medical info and such, hell if I get into an accident, I just figure that's the end. Maybe it makes us feel better or closer to other riders when we recommend proper gear and stuff like this, but cmon, let's be real. The medical people if they get there won't care what you are wearing, and it probably wouldn't matter one bit anyway. If we really thought we needed this, we wouldn't be riding, would we? Well...:) Who knows...

Actually, the medical info really helps us out a lot. Knowing what someone's medical history is and what meds they're allergic to/are taking can really alter what treatment we give them on scene and en route to the hospital. I picked up one of those medical info tags after running a few bike wrecks where the rider was going to be fine, but for one reason or another, couldn't give us any of their history. I definitely recommend them...
