August Ames porn**** rip

It's not really binary in procreation, or recreation. As recreation, it's like guns/weed/religion/motorcycling/etc. It's a medium which represents its participants and people run the gamut. All these hot topics are tofu and we inaccurately judge them with a total disconnect from what should be judged; individuals. Too much work to judge individuals though, much easier to put entire mediums into good/bad categories.

The image problem with the industry is STD's. I don't think they are judged so harshly on the getting it on aspect but more so as seeing sexually transmitted communicable disease as dirty and therefore the participants also.

Even getting HIV today is not a death sentence like 10-20 years ago.

Might not be a death sentence but it's still a miserable life of expensive drugs taken daily for life, weakened immune system, side effects from hiv medication while taking medication for other ailments that will inevitably pop up.

Definitely just an image problem, never an actual problem compared to "mainstream" society.

I worked at Planned Parenthood for 22 years. Mrs., Ms., and I worked in the sex industry for around 12 years.

STDs were FAR more prevalent among vanilla folks. Those in the business got tested and took precautions. We were aware, we talked, we looked out for one another.

Can the common culture claim the same? Yet they propagate the trope that porn people spread disease...

And to the general "you," when was your last STD panel? How certain are you that you're not passing something along? If people stepped up we could dampen it as we did polio.

Does the porn industry attract the mentally ill or contribute to mental illness.

Yes. My HS girlfriend was an actress, after we had broken up. (Screen name is Sarah Sinn). She had serious daddy issues before, and some anxiety issues as well. Her getting into the industry led to quite a bit of drug abuse, which compounded a lot of those issues. She's doing good now, went and got help, and is married with two kids, and a real job. We still talk every blue moon. We were together for 5 years, and she was a huge part of my life, but if she had as many dicks sticking out of her, as she did stuck in her, she'd look like a porcupine.

According to industry insider accounts, some of which have been linked here on barf, substance abuse isn't uncommon in the industry, a girl needs something to help her get through a scene. Drug users are not top of their std testing when most people can't even be bothered to balance a checkbook. There are std's that they don't even bother testing for, assuming that any participants will already have them so why bother.

The girls can't make a living anymore strictly with shooting scenes so a lot of them are subsidizing income with escorting between shooting.
Industry workers like to claim disease is more prevalent amongst vanilla folks. Sure because there are more of them but as a percentage I bet its not even close to industry workers.

I can always feel sorry for a person that feels that the only way they can stop whatever pain and suffering they may be feeling can only be ended by death.

As someone who has suffered from mild depression, I can't imagine how bad full on depression is. Sure I've had low energy, and bad feelings, and despair and trouble going to work, but I'm guessing it's nothing compared to what she must have felt. I totally empathize. She did not deserve to be driven to suicide for a mistake.

And according to other industry insider accounts that is BS. I was there (and at PP as well) and I call it out as BS.

Assuming you can vet your clients and get a huge payday I'm not sure there's a huge difference between having sex on camera with a stranger and sex off-camera with a stranger, but I am not a sex worker and may be totally off-base.

Which part is BS?
Where did you get your industry insider info? People Magazine? Entertainment Weekly?

BS. Not at all how it works.

Are your paydays huge, or enough to get by?

One HS girlfriend represents an entire profession.

By the same metric a guy I know who used to fly drunk represents all pilots.

I didn't save any particular articles from before but I just did a search now for "inside the porn industry". It came up with pages and pages of hits and everyone I clicked on gave a negative view of the industry. Some of the search results were articles written by former actresses.
Is there some sort of mass conspiracy to taint the industry in a negative light?
