Auxiliary Lighting/driving light suggestions

So... With all the separate lights, how FAR and WIDE is your output? Metrics beat appearance. Yeah, it looks slick, but does that array have a better lightpattern than Krista's or Darla's?? :nerd

I've given thought to mounting a lightbar like this... :teeth http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/110312E

Well I have never seen a CW light in person. They appear to be well made and I'm not knocking their quality one bit.
In mine there are 3 different types of lenses in the housing for a very nice beam pattern. Just imagine perfect visibility at any [reasonable] speed. I just made it look *cool* at the same time is all.

If you're gonna bother putting lights on, chose ones that will help you see as well. And while Clearwater ain't cheap, remember that you can always transfer them to another bike.

Only issue I have with the Clearwater is that after I use my brights and then have to dim them again I feel almost blind for a few seconds.....

Hi all-

There are tons of great suggestions; I'm still vetting out all the potential control and mounting options.

JMardy's mondomotos look most promising at this time with something like the photonblaster controls for switch and flash duty. Ideally, I'd like to have them integrated in to my highbeam switch.

I like the clearwaters and am familiar with them as my riding buddy/neighbor has them mounted on his 1200rs (he's an ironbutt member approaching 800k miles :wow !). Their size, even though small, is one of the factors I'm considering and have seen some alternatives that are even smaller and less intrusive to the bike's lines allowing more mounting options.

I, too, have frame sliders; however, I'm not too keen on mounting anything on them and the lights might be less than effective on the Gen II without significant modification of the slider's or the mount itself. The beam would be inhibited by the radiator guard/cover so I'm thinking of mounting very close or inside of the nose fairing.

To me, this location will be easier to hide the associated wiring and mounting hardware and allow easy access and removal if necessary...I'm all about "easy" :teeth

Thanks, so far, for all the suggestions and pics. If you've got any more, please post 'em up!

I should add that the Skene controller is fantastic. It allows you to set three different light levels for off, on and high beam. Also if you hit your high beam/pass switch twice it does a pulsing pattern. I've made left-turners stop in their tracks! :thumbup
I see that Mondo is offering them now too:

And the BMW F800 is a sportbike as of when?? :laughing

Don't worry about it, you are trying to SEE, not be seen. The Clearwater Darla's blend into the bike, barely noticeable until you turn them on. And then proceed to turn night into day. :party

F800S. The S stands for sport.

I still am having a hard time picturing them not looking out of place on my front end.

I had hid in my car loved it

Want led lighting now looks sweeeet

I have the mondomotos also. The only issue I've had with them is the anodizing faded pretty quickly. They used to be black but now they're bronze. I think the bronze actually looks pretty cool though.

well, then, please explain the Honda Accord "Sport"

or the Yugo "Sport"

need I continue?

This is my bike.. it's not supersport, but def sport, and that's why I don't want to ruin it with adv-looking lights.

Kinda similar predicament; as I had mentioned, not looking for "huge" trail/off-road lighting.

There are a few suggestions here mentioning diminutive lighting alternatives with similar output.

Having a naked "sprotbike" limits auxiliary lighting options. I've seen a few "bullet" type lights in aluminum cases with several mounting options from fully adjustable to those which will require "custom" brackets.

The less intrusive the housing, the more attractive an option for me.

At any rate, I will update once I figure out whether to crap or get off the pot. I've got a couple of mini-projects for the Tuono to work on this weekend.

Thanks again, folks!

P.S. beautiful 800 "Sport"! :teeth that paint scheme could fool one in to thinking she's an Italian temptress

I also have Clearwater Darlas on my Capo. Very good conspicuity during the day, will vaporize jackrabbits at night on high beam. Pretty expensive, but made in Sacramento by very helpful folks.:)
