bad luck bike??

Get a Guardian Bell (well actually have someone buy it for you and give it as a gift) to chase off the evil spirits!

I don't know I'd say the bike brings amazing good luck. Twice you haven't been seriously injured!!!
Now that's a good bike!

FWIW my next bike will probably be an F4i the more I learn the more impressed I am with these mighty little bike :thumbup

op sorry you are getting an earful, but i think you are getting the picture that most of us don't believe in bad karma

-bad mechanics
-bad drivers
-bad riders
-bad owner
...we believe in those!

However, if another motorcycle makes you "feel" more confident so that you are not wasting precious brain resources doubting the machine go for it. the less you have to think about peripheral stuff and the more you can focus your attention on pure riding the "safer" you will be.

Whenever I go to the track; I try to go with a clear mind. That is I'm not thinking about work, family, bad luck, good luck etc. If I can't clear those things when I get to the track; I'm not going to ride because I'm not focused; if I'm not focused, I'm a danger to myself and others on the track.

thanks everyone Gptoyz thats what i was shooting for. i dont believe in having bad luck motorcycle but i was just wondering if others thought that way. i know for a fact im not a expert im just know putting in my first 1k miles on the bike. and i feel safe on my bike it was just the wrong time and place. i love my f4i and i dont want to sell it. well i think my dad mostly thinks like that because we are Indians and our culture has alot of the bad luck nonsense in history.

hey everyone, i dont know alot of people on here but 3 weeks ago i lowsided on my bike and my dad thinks the bike is bad luck because i got the bike back the same week from the shop for some minor fixes. how do you guys feel about certain bikes. i love my bike to death but i don't know. thinking about selling it and buying another one. any opinion let me know. its a 06 f4i and it hasn't even hit 4k miles yet. i fell at 35 mph only fairing damage and dented exhaust.

It could be. If you really like that bike a lot, maybe try some type of blessing ceremony and see if the luck changes.

It's low miles could be an indication of its bad luck as previous owners sensed/felt it and sold the bike very quickly. There may even be some evil spirit hanging about that bike, find out its history... see if it killed any of its previous owners or ran over/killed any animals. I know bikes that's killed squirrels usually will suffer a major crash within 2 yeras.

OP, I seriously doubt you have a "cursed" bike. What you DO have is a lack of skill, experience, and knowledge. Don't make the mistake of passing off this crash as "wrong time and place". YOU are responsible for being situationally aware, for paying attention to what traffic is doing around you, and making sure you travel at a speed that allows you to react to what's going on around you in traffic.
What I would suggest is that you get yourself some riding experience OUT of high-traffic areas. Find some residential neighborhoods to ride in, some less-traveled back roads to ride, and start logging some miles. Learn how to panic brake, and how to swerve, and how to really control your bike... including parking lot drills like they taught you in MSF... Then go out and battle traffic.
Always ride like every car around you wants to kill you, and you'll really increase your odds of avoiding "bad luck".
And everyone learns at a different rate... some people pick up riding quickly, others take a little longer... and if you've had two incidents in 1,000 miles then maybe reduce your riding in "high-risk" areas, and get yourself out into less dangerous areas to ride until you get the skills you need to be safe.
Also, if you have old tires (as JImbo is saying), as in, from 2006, you take that bike in and get new tires on it NOW.

This is something you gotta figure out yourself - luck is a personal thing. Why bother asking random people on the internet?

That said, it doesn't sound like anything to do with luck to me.

because we are Indians and our culture has alot of the bad luck nonsense in history.

that answers everything I need to know.

Been hearing the same story about my moto too.
just forget about it! Chalk it up to inexperience. It's like learning to ride a bicycle: you're gonna fall the first few times you try!

finally thanks you. i already accept that im not a pro in riding and i just asked people on this forum because i wanted to see if anyone else goes thru this stuff. but ya i think the main reason is because my parents are Indian lol. and yes i know that it sounds stupid to most people but people do think like this. im not saying i was thinking my bike was bad luck.

You just need to mount a shoe from a black horse on the bike to keep 'em happy. :thumbup

There is no reason to assume/expect someone is going to "fall" just because they're learning how to ride their bike... quite a few people manage to learn to ride without "falling", and the goal should be to get the skills without any incidents!
Beyond that, OP didn't have a parking lot "drop" (not moving, bike tipped past balance point, and he couldn't hold it up), he crashed. Riding in high-risk environments (like heavy City traffic) with minimal skills is something I caution the Newbies I work with against doing... it's high-stress, and high-risk. Instead, practice in parking lots- emergency braking, swerving... practice in quiet residential neighborhoods or big business park parking lots on weekends when they're empty... practice on little-traveled back roads. Log a couple thousand miles (without "incidents"), get some skills, and then tackle the tough stuff.
Also, newbies really need to remember that they need to look at ALL cars as though the drivers are trying to kill them... keeping your awareness not just ahead of you, but the sides, and checking your six (behind you) as well... stay paranoid, stay alive! :laughing :thumbup

Yep, based on your statements, your bike is DEFINITELY bad luck. I suggest you immediately make some modifications before something even worse happens. Simply make modifications to your frame as noted and all your problems will be solved.

I've attached a picture below for your reference. You will see a minor increase in luck at idle but most importantly, you'll see an EXPONENTIAL increase in luck at speed due to the "ram air" effect associated with this mod.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU! LITERALLY!

I didn't realize Shervin had joined the forum... is the "ram air luck effect" only available on kawis??

It sounds like the city is bad luck. This happened after you moved there, right?

ok well short and sweet story because i just typed out a whole thing and my Internet shut off. but basically i was riding and this car decided to swerve into my lane to pass a car but instead he slows down a bit instead of speeding up. i didnt have enough time to slow down so i dumped the bike and let go instead of hitting the guy. i personally dont believe in bad luck but my parents think otherwise.

don't bikes slow down faster then cars? i think mine does. i dunno. i should ask my dad
