Yes, really.
I took exception to the use of the word *hubris*.
Perhaps Gary exuded a sense of irrational Invincibility at times but he was somehow humble about it at the same time.
Also, when Gary went down for the last time he wasn't riding recklessly. The Maxwrist videos seem to promote and glorify reckless riding.
Gary prided himself in hauling ass under the radar.
So still "no".
 
How did dude in video lose his boot while not losing a foot or leg attached to it.
Hard to believe the force required to pull a boot off wouldn't take a limb with it.

Wrong size, not properly closed, who knows, they guy didn't look very intelligent to me in the 1st place. Have you ever seen people loosing their Wellingtons in the mud? Not sure what force would be required to pull off my Sidi riding boots, they are only secured by a zipper.
 
My TCX's are secure by a lace, zipper, and a buckle. Would do serious damage to my leg if they were pulled off.

According to Maxwrists live steam from the hospital posted today he has a badly broken left leg but he credits his Helite air bag vest for saving him from any further injury. Judging by the way this guy rides this is a strong argument for these vests.
