Bay Area Photo Tag

Something recognizable I'd say is about it taking a photo - some potential examples

This is useless:

Personally I think it should be ok to post out of sequence. Not everyone that wants to participate can easily ride across X amount of counties to take a pic. Just my 2.5 cents :ride

i understood that and i enjoyed your enthusiasm. that's why i said "could be" and "hasn't been".

you're spot even got honorable mention on the map :party

Dude, if you just post whenever you want, it isn't exactly a game anymore!

Nice work on the map, mosquito. I figured it out at last and added the map so far to the first post.

Bet you a bowl of Pho I know where (and when) that is. :teeth

Pho Que? I think we talked about this ride though.

Do I already win? I'm in that picture! :laughing

Start an East Bay game - define the borders, and post the first pic.

Out of sequence - there's no incentive to go backwards.

A game with borders should solve that for you: Start a a thread and post the first pic.

Re: "out of sequence"
It's not really in the spirit of things. I thought the idea was to go to the current goal in order to earn the privilege of posting the game's next goal. I went to the tower just for fun, but see it as a side trip.

That said, if you don't want to play within the bounds of the game (I at least think) the rest of us are playing, the solution would seem to be to start a "Where's Ant?" thread.

Kind of like 'north of SJ, south of daly city' and post a pic from that geographic location in a new thread ? That sounds like a good idea, would get more folks involved me thinks.

:thumbup Go for it. Because I plan on spreading this one far and wide. :ride

Another variation that might work (and be more inclusive):
How about a very simple points system?
5 points for being first to a spot + privilege (and obligation :) ) of picking the next spot
1 point if you're not first

Makes it worthwhile to go to all of the destinations regardless. There are whackier scoring systems that could work, but I'd suggest keeping it dirt simple.

No WAY am I keeping track of some Byzantine points system! :laughing I just want to discover new places. I think second, third, etc. should keep posting their pics if they like, though, it's rather amusing.

Edited map with location #3. :thumbup

Yep, it's the tower on top of Yerba Bueuna Island. You can see it as you cross the BB westbound. It's only about 50 yards from the freeway, but straight up!

"Sitting atop the island is a complex of antennas that are used by the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS). This complex was established in 1972 to “provide active monitoring and navigational advice for vessels in particularly confined and busy waterways.” Of the 12 VTS systems now operating within the United States, VTS San Francisco was the first to be established. Using a system of radar installations, video cameras and reports from the vessels themselves, VTS monitors shipping throughout the San Francisco Bay, the Delta, and the offshore approaches to the Golden Gate. VTS also broadcasts a “vessel traffic report” on marine radio every half hour."

Oh.

FTR, I'm going to sit out on #4. (Unless you goofballs take too fricken long.)

Let's start a thread where there is no game, but we just sit in front of our computers and start making up a bunch of lame rules.

Can anyone get to #3 before #4 is posted?

Hell, yeah. (FWIW, IMO, NIMBY, GOTFS) Some people will have to wait until Saturday to participate but then they might do it for twelve hours just to see how many they can do in a day.
