Best sport tourer on today's market?

More on the Sport side, St4, St4s also with ABS and the St3 line. Sadly no
longer made and the s versions are harder to find. But deals on the St2
do come up every now and then.

almost done, may do an SSSA conversion later.

But the rumor mill is a buzzin about another ST line.

Seriously though, once it has a Sargent seat on it, it will be perfect. 10 hour days are pretty easy. No good for 2up though.

Nice clean ST2 !
My ST4 is the same color, but I got mine as a basket-case. Have it fully operational, but not tricked out at all - dead stock it works great. Love that motor.

Concourse is too heavy.. just not sporty enough imo.. same for ST1300..

The MTS1200 is the best attempt yet at solving the following problem:

Fun roads are often far away. How do you get to the fun roads comfortably with a bike that is worth taking on those fun roads..

Oh and craploads of electronically manageable power and suspension help too..

Meh, I'll spend a third of the money and have a bike even more ready for those roads when I get to them.

I'd defo rock any Multistrada I could, haven't had the opportunity yet.

I'm cheap. The ST4 is my 2nd Duc, both bought non-operational. The first was a crashed Cagiva-vintage M900. Oh man that was a fun bike. Cross an update of that with a V-Strom ? Yeah, that's gotta be fun. Especially the 2.0 version.

They're like 20 large though.

I have 5 bikes and a car and I don't have 20k in rolling stock, which is not to say that it's not a bitchin' ride - I really liked it up-personal when I saw one at Munroe's.

OP didn't mention $$ in his criteria.. :twofinger

but for real.. the MTS1200-S is not 20k because it's a Duc.. It's 20k because it has the best shit on it.. maybe you don't want/need all that crap or the niggles of a Duc, but you can have it with some creative financing.. :cool

How do you find the performance of the R1200RT vs S1000RR? You seem to have similar taste to me!

[Edit: review link http://www.moto123.com/motorcycle-news/article,2010-bmw-r1200rt-review.spy?artid=120353&pg=3 ]

As you know, it's night and day difference, I wish my 2006 RT had 10 to 15 more ponies (2010 models feel much more powerful), but it's still fast enough for any sane person. The RT is a bike that you need to learn were the power is, but it is such a great bike, it really can do any thing you ask of it, all the little nick-nacks like the heated grips, heated seats, navigation and adjustable windshield make this a well rounded tourer and it's lighter than my last sportbike (95' VFR 750)

I sure do love the S1000RR though but it's a lot of bike to just put around town, I find myself ridding the 750 Dorsoduro 5 to 1 over the S1000RR. The S1000RR will most likely be my last sport bike now that I've hit 50 years old.

All the best,

Michael

Have you ridden the new C14? I thought it was pretty damn skippy.

That said, I like my Trophy 900 more than anything out today. 45+ mpg, 280 mile range, sweet triple engine, upright seating (with risers) & bike corners faster than I consider safe for street riding. And weighs 100lbs less than the new Sprint, which is one of the lighter ST bikes. I keep looking for a better ride, but none flip my switch like this one :love

Just a bit more sport.. Love my k1300s.

Rips, comfortable..lots of cool bits.

Love the Bammm!

My vote is for my all time favorite bike the FJR 1300.
If you want a very smooth, fast, and reliable bike the FJR really fits the bill.
I am 6'3' and it fits me just fine.

My bags are field tested to upwards of.... :teeth

To be honest did not really know they were there...to busy going whehoooo!

50+ mpg, 200+ mile tank range? Check
Upright, all-day-comfy seating? Check
Fully-faired for wind protection? Check
Metal tank for tank bag? Check
Wears a pair of saddlebags like Richard Simmons wears Spandex? Check
A lithe sex machine in the twisties? Check
Bulletproof reliability? Check

Behold, the ultimate sports tourer.
