BILT gear - good, bad or ??

I bought Bilt because entering the DBC in HiViz just didn't seem right.

'Spirit,' pants are nice, mostly comfy. Same for the jacket 'Spirit,' I think, however, It doesn't have a tab to keep the collar closed and the zipper from sliding down while being worn, which usually means the zipper is irritating at my throat.

These threads should continue because things change over time and if they merged all threads into their topic - there would be one thread here.

I have a Bilt motorcycle cover. It seems pretty good at keeping the rain off my bike. Don't know if it will hold up in a crash though.

It's low end gear but much better than nothing.
It would be good to get of you're just starting off and to view the items as placeholders for better gear.

My experience

Gloves are decent. Wear a pair for the street.

All else is just sub par packing material.

EDit;
2nd thought. If it is the best gear you can afford then it is the best gear available. Dont let a Brand name keep you from covering up.

:ride

Picked up a pair of BLT winter gloves the last min before heading out of town in 1/12. No time to shop and they were cheep. Wear them daily up to a week ago. Only complaint is the velcro that wraps around the gauntlet gives out very quickly. CG replaced one pair for this reason w/in 2 months and the 2nd pair is now doing the same thing. Odd that the velcro on the strap is still good.

Good value imo.

My friend low sided at about 50 mph with bilt leather pants they held
Up fine, it's better than no leathers

Instead I wear big velcroed-on hard knee pads from my rollerblading days

were they the boneless brand? oh memories... i still remember drooling over the majestic 12's

I would stay away from their gloves. I bought a set of their top gauntlets, and the palms started shredding after about 300 miles! And the extra layer across the palm (at the base of the fingers) was NOT leather. It was some cheap fabric. Not confidence inspiring. CG took them back since it was within 30 days, and I got a nearly identical style set of Dainese (but much more stout) for about $20 more. Worth it.

I am currently trying out a set of Bilt boots (the ones that were $79 on sale recently). The fit and finish is great, but we'll see how they last. They will definitely protect my feet though... until they start breaking down.

I visited CG this week intending to buy some BILT of Sedici boots. $269 later I walked out with Dainese boots.

Sigh...

the Trackstar ones? I've been considering picking up a set of boots other than my Vertigo Corsas for commute use.

is Sedici comparable to Bilt? who makes Sedici? It seems like people in this thread compare them to Bilt...

Both are cyclegear house brands. Sedici is supposed to be higher quality.

I haven't been to one for a while, but the Frank Thomas stuff they had towards the end of it seemed much better than the early Sedici, let alone Bilt.
