BILT gear - good, bad or ??

Frank thomas stuff was way better than bilt IMO.

my sedici waterproof boots are already busting a seam but my sedici gloves are doing fine. I too am wearing a bilt helmet. Matte Black with the sun visor thingy. Seems to work just fine, want a better helmet so I can relegate the bilt helmet to backup only.

I found the bilt boots to be scary thin and the bilt 1 piece was like paper compared to my A* 2 piece.

Lowsided on 3 occasions. In cycle gear brand leathers one above 40mph. Gotten up with out a scratch everytime and there still going strong.

And again, nuff said.

It really is a cash question. If you do not have the absolute best quality you can afford you do not have the right gear.

+1. I have been wearing the same XTi leather jacket and gloves for about 2 years now, and they are holding up VERY well. I only upgraded the gloves because I wanted cuffs that were a bit lower profile.

Got a Bilt one piece suit for $250 in December after a few coupons and discounts. Build quality seems very good, suit fits well and is comfortable. The leather and padding seems thin. The suit has held up well commuting four days a week. I would recommend it to anyone on a budget who wants full leathers. There's really no excuse for not having gear with these prices.

Got a pair of Bilt gloves for free when I bought the suit. Terrible build quality. After a month or two little decorative things (logos, grippy material ont he palm), started coming off. I think these are the $79 gloves if I had paid full price. Would not recommend.

I got nothing... Well, ok, I do.

I have the Bilt chill-vest, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do - absorb water (cold or hot) and reduces or increases core temperature. For very hot riding, use cold water. For very cool/cold riding, use hot water.

Works great, no problems, and holds up just fine for what it is. :thumbup
