Not me... 26yo

Shiney green toy and a lack of common sense led to the young man gettting popped.
As a person that **Cough Cough** has exceeded the speed limit I have always worried about the big one.
Not the big crash... rather the high speed pop. My OG wisdom says don't do it anywhere except the middle of nowhere, but truth be told hitting the ton happens in areas that are not as remote and the thought still creeps in as "that would suck".

My highest speed violation is ridiculously low.. 85 in a 70 years ago.

If you care to share yours go ahead. If not I get it.

If you say I never speed... I don't get it.

Got popped doing 88 in a 45 along highway 70. Good thing the radar got me in a corner as the pace had definitely been higher than that. The CHP officer was not amused.

The last (only) moto speeding ticket I got was 18ish years ago. I passed a double log trailer after splitting to front of the congestion. It was Hwy17 heading to Santa Cruz and the logging truck was blocking both lanes , so when I got past...I had both uphill lanes of 17 to myself. Also I was heading to Santa Cruz to get a health check on my week old big bore kit that was just put in my bike, along with new cams and a top end oiler. I was feeling the blessings of the moto gods!

I saw him (CHP Motor Unit) and managed to get it down to 90 when we crossed paths. He said he clocked me at 90 in the 50 zone but wrote me a ticket for 80 in a 65. It was a gift and I took it.

the only ticket i've gotten was for going too fast in the split, $480 in 2012

...but if the big man upstairs writes tickets i've probably lost my license already :rofl

Got a few awards for 70ish in 65 but thank god I haven't been caught during my triple digit adventures. Almost got caught doing 90 in a 45 on Santa Theresa up by Gav but CHP didn't have radar and was going the opposite way just knew I was speeding but not by how much.

The dude clearly didn't know the number 1 rules of

The suspect was arrested in Fresno nine days after the chase. He’s charged with two felony counts of evading a peace officer, violation of probation and driving on a suspended license. The Kawasaki motorcycle was also impounded.

Must have posted on IG, FB, Insta or TikTok about his ride....

I got trapped in a phalanx of bro dozer’s recently, and the only exit was to just gas out between them. The affable CHP politely inquired as to what was going on there, and I told him. Then he went back and ran my license and so I had no citations in the system since the last one was 2004 and resolved. Of course, he mentioned upon meeting me as required by law that he was pulling me over for doing 91 in a 65. Actually, I pulled myself over and was off the bike and taking my gear off as he pulled up. This guy wrote me for 75+ and said this is a high enforcement area with lots of problems which is why he was tracking traffic that day. Off I went and $236 and 60 bucks in traffic school fees later I was done, and my insurance company won’t see that ticket unless I get another one within a year. It’s been about eight months.

The 2004 ticket was airing out the old bandit on 101 N. past Smith Ranch Road. CHP motor was coming up on the slip road which was below grade, and I was going by wound out in fifth which translates to about 130 on that bandit. By the time he caught up with me, I was back down to the speed limit because there was light traffic. I was truly amazed at the sight of him and his red light. He was extremely upset and screaming at me. The whole situation necessitated an attorney, and that was when I learned a lot about triple digit speeding laws. Straight up speeding over 100 miles an hour on California freeways is one point if you’re convicted. Courts often assigned two points mistakenly, and my lawyer was aware of that as well as knowing to change the venue to a friendly Judge. You get one of those chances. I wrote an apology letter to the officer before the court date and hand delivered it to the CHP office in Corte Madera. The judge said that was a really good move and he thought my letter was sincere.

The cool part about it was the prosecutor Was mischaracterizing both the type of motorcycle I wrote and the driving behavior and it was very easy to point out based on the details in the police report. Total cost was about $1700.

I went from 35 miles a gallon to 42 in the last eight months and I’m sure you can imagine why. Whenever I get on the freeway now I use cruise control. Down here anything under 85 miles an hour will get thrown out if you challenge it. CHP racer Doug on the R1 told me at a track day Just go the damn speed of traffic and I’ll never notice you. That is still good advice.

Got pulled over on 12 between Cordelia and Napa. CHP motocop radar'd me doing 80 in a 55 zone. I had all my paperwork handy and in order. I named dropped a CHP motocop that I knew and he knew him. I then asked for a veteran's discount and he asked me what I wanted. I told him a 10% discount. He chuckled and wrote me up for 64 in a 55. We spent the next 10 minutes talking about motorcycles.

I got out of a ticket driving home Friday. Got up to nearly double the limit when passing a semi on a no passing frontage road.
Cop was parked in an industrial driveway in an unmarked car that I didn’t notice.
He caught up to me and gave me a stern lecture as if it were the most dangerous incident he had ever seen. I totally agreed with everything he was saying and assumed for sure I was getting a ticket. He goes back to his car to run my license and comes back empty handed, warning me to watch it. What a relief.
Don’t even know how many tickets I’ve had over the years but I’ve certainly had my share of breaks.

I have not been tagged for excessive speed on a moto. luck, I am awesome, whatever.
Racetrack is 140 a bunch of times.

Breaks are nice. Sometimes you have to make your own. A Sonoma County sheriff was parked up under an overpass or nearby, and I was airing out the aforementioned bandit along the road in Windsor, which had no driveways and was agricultural on the other side. Seemed like a safe place to speed.

I slowed down on my own, again, and I could see in my rearview mirror, the front of his squad car lifting and lowering with transmission shifts. Oh shit, he’s coming for me. He followed me for a little while and then when I signal to turn, he lit me up. He did everything possible to get me to admit to speeding, but I stayed mum. He returned to his car, saw my license was clear, and let me go. It was a pretty ham fisted attempt to get me to self incriminate.

On an open highway, with no other traffic nor intersections/driveways/side streets and good conditions I’ve explored the upper speed range of my motorcycles. But touch 100, and I cool my jets. Over that point, the repercussions can hurt! Driving record and wallet. I’ve successfully avoided all that.

Open roads in Nevada and such, well that’s a different story. Cruising speed is reasonable, but I do enjoy a moment of swiftness.

Anyway, on more popular roads, I like to,stay away from traffic and ride in the quiet zones between groups of cars.

never ever answer the question why did I pull you over. I always play dumb and say why no officer I have no idea why you pulled me over.

I think it was 89 in a 45, going through the Presidio Tunnel in 2nd Gear on my VTR. Just after the 9/11 attacks. It took 3 CHP, 12 Federal Police to write little old me that ticket

It was dismisssed about a year later ! Ahooooo. Here's the bail refund http://moto-rama.com/photos/DISMISSED-CHECK.jpg

A couple other times, I failed to yield, but I was a kid on a dirt bike. So those tickets never got written, and they sicced a helicopter on me the 2nd time.

years ago i got popped for 104. got super lucky - cop didn’t show up for the court date, and the judge didn’t grant a continuance. chewed my ear a fair bit though.

Just written up I assume.

Heard many times a Hundo can be the booking after booking it.

Super lucky. 🍀👍🏻🍀
