So I come home and find this car blocking the driveway. The car belongs to the people living in the apartments across the street. There is about 3-4 feet behind this car. what to do? call the police?

if youre serious i hate people like you.

my friend got his car towed becuase his front bumper was sticking out literally like 5 inches in their driveway..

you have pleeeeenty of space to get in unless you drive a tank.

PS

Call the WHAAAAMBULANCE

so you're saying its okay in your book but your friend got towed?

and does that look like 5"?

i'm sayin youre not the brightest light in the shed for posting this thread:teeth

im saying that my friend got towed because of a person similar to yourself .. ur driveway is not blocked jeez cry me a river.

i would understand if ur driveway was completly blocked but its not..

actually just go ahead and call the police and explain them the situation no better yet call 911 and declare that its an emergency :nerd

i'll wait for a helpful answer..you can try to persuade me with all your jibba jabba

How about you find out whos car it is and ask them if they would be kind enough to move it or in the future not park with any part of their vheicle in your driveway...

I work in a relatively busy city and when I get a call like this I view it as a waste of my time. I would not tow that car as you can easily get in and out of your driveway and that does not justify the 1/2 hour of my time it will take to get the car towed. My response would be to knock on your neighbor's door for you and ask them to move their car. If they refused, were unable, or I could not get a hold of the owner, then the car gets a parking ticket. That's it!

Now if your driveway is truely blocked where you can't get out, I have no problem towing those vehicles away.

Agreed. If I rolled up and saw that, id clear it without getting out of my car. Now if he was dead center, that would be a different story.

I've had to deal with this alot in front of my house. I have a narrow driveway so when people park any part of their car in front of it, it usually blocks me from getting out.

My policy is this: I always take a couple of pictures of the offending car, a shot looking down the driveway (to show how much my driveway was blocked) and one pic of their license plate (for ID). If I can possibly squeeze my car past, but it's a pita, then I call the police non-emergency number and have the car cited. If I can't get my car by at all then I have them towed. I don't like having people towed, but then people should be more considerate when parking.

Looking at the pictures you posted, it appears that you should be able to get past pretty easily (wide driveway). If so, just leave them a note (don't be nasty about it...they're your neighbors).

maybe you just dont like those neighbors? :twofinger

Don't you have DPT in San Jose? Call them.

I'm dying over here. :rofl

Instead of calling the cops or leaving a polite note for the driver, you actually took the time:
-to take pictures
-create a thread
-post them on teh intrawebz.

:laughing

Where is the PEO parking enforcement forum? :p

You ever try calling the cops? I bet he got a faster and better answer here.

You're dying? Is it really that funny?

I don't mind the original post...it may be helpful to other people at some point to know how folks deal with these situations.

Get an old Dodge PowerWagon (or Ford F250 4x4) with a good front bumper (the kind you find in deer country).
Park it nose to nose with the offending vehicle. Put a note on their windshield "Please don't encroach upon the driveway. I'll be happy to move it for you next time :twofinger "
